The reason I don't like Naruto is because it's starting to head in the Dragonball Z direction, except worse. None of their arcs have any type of closure and at the end of the arc, you are left with an empty feeling because there is no closure. Naruto tends to finish it's arc with a big fight and after that, you just train and move on to the next one. There is nothing but powerful people butting heads. That's not to say it never has closure, the best arc in Naruto was the Rescue Gaara Arc, that had closure and conclusion. It didn't leave me with an empty feeling at all. The characters are poorly developed and the only thing keeping my interest are new characters and fight scenes from Shikamaru.

EDIT: It's also poorly written and not very well thought out.
