dmleet is correct, they are being developed seperately...of course DS will be backward compatable, so if ya have that then you're all set...battery life, from what i've seen, sony claims (although they have a history of lieing about specs) that while playing games it will be 10 hours, while playing music around 8, and while watching movies around 2.5....and i was wrong, i thought the UMD's would be like gamecube's minidiscs...they aren't, they are like what evilbutterfly was describing...so that gets rid of scratching problems, but not problems with the optical disc drives...which is the most frequent problem with disc reading systems...i'd be surprised if it actually delivers 10 hours of gameplay, which doesn't make sense to me...only 2.5 for movies, and 10 for games? of course seeing as it's a disc, be prepared for loading times...i guess this is something console gamers have gotten used to, but has always bugged the piss outta me...also, the PSP will have a usb port...meaning you should be able to load movies/music and such...which peaks me a bit more...i probably won't buy psp unless it comes out and just blows everyone's mind...i don't have 300 bones to spend...if they release it for 150, maybe...i'll just make sure to wait 3 months to see if it won't crap out on me after 5 car trips...DS...still on the fence.
