Do you write these yourself? They're very good. However, it tended to be a bit redundant. It sounds to me like what you're describing is simply a 'soul', whether or not you wish to call it that. A quote from "Hitchhiker's Guide" tends to sum up this situation fairly well:

Humans always thought they were the smartest creature on Earth because they had invented so many things, like war, the bomb, etc., while all Dolphins did was muck around in the water having a good time. However the Dolphins always assumed they were smarted, for precicely the same reasons.

Ok, so maybe it's a bit different...but you get the idea. I'll post more on this later, I have to get ready for school.
