You are misunderstanding the point of a draft if you think those in college should be immune...

One reason for dissent over Vietnam was why should the rich people who can afford college not be forced into service and sent to die? We are all Americans, and if someone has to go, it shouldn't be selective on what you're doing. the only inhibitor should be if you are, or if you aren't, physical able to handle combat.

Personally, I don't believe in a draft. If they need to institute a draft in order to make people fight, then we shouldn't be fighting there.

I would of signed up to fight for WW2, but I wouldn't fight in Vietnam, and I would probably not volunteer for service in Iraq. I would defend my country, but I can't do so blindly. I respect anyone who volunteers for service or has fought in a war tremendously, but i could never bring myself to do it unless I could agree with the reasons I am being asked to fight.
