I wholeheartedly believe had CDs not caught on, we'd be popping cartridges into the Wii, but I digress.

False. You and Afro are both wrong. Sony did not pioneer the CD on a home console. Seven consoles used CDs before Sony PlayStation came onto the market.
NEC Turbo Grafx 16 - 1989
NEC TurboDuo - 1992
Sega CD for Genesis - 1992
Panasonic 3DO Interactive - 1993
Sega CD for Genesis 2 - 1994
SNK NEO-GEO CD - 1994
Atari Jaguar CD - 1995
Sony PlayStation released in 1995 after every single one of those systems. Don't believe me?

This is true. Now that I have a Wii, I have no room for my PS2. Also, I cannot stand my Wii upright (and I have a paranoia with heat horizontally) in my TV stand, and it stands in a prime place to be knocked over next to my TV.
