It is an insightful and humbling possibility. But nothing more than a possibility.

Playing devil's advocate in this instance just makes you look retarded. Even someone who thorougly believes in God (or, at least, the God identified in the anecdote) would admit that this story is complete fiction. There is far too much detail for it to be legitimate.
