Elegant Mathematics

Post your favorite mathematical proof or theorem.

Mine has to be Euler's.

g(x) is defined as e^ix

therefore g'(x) = ie^ix, and g''(x) = -e^ix

g''(x) = -g(x)
g''(x) + g(x) = 0

Re: NASA, do we really need it?

First, learn to spell and use correct grammar. Secondly, in my opinion we do need NASA. The Earth won't last forever, and without NASA we will be stranded here until the end. And no this is not bias,...

Re: are violent video games ruining the youth of tomorrow

Pinning the blame for these crimes on video games does not solve the problem, but only delays a possible solution. The most likely factor is poor home life. I grew up playing the original Doom and...

Re: Loose Change 2nd Edition. US Government behind the 9/11 attacks?

God forbid mediocre college kids piece together grainy stills that no one can see anything in and point out mysterious looking shadows.

The kid's a ****ing moron, as well as anyone who takes that...

Re: President Bush

Sometimes you need to think for yourself. I know that must be hard for far lefties, but it's possible. Try it. I distinctly recall Bush informing America that the war will be costly, yet in 2002 we...

Re: President Bush

Well then the average intelligence of the very American public who doesn't approve of Bush is pretty low if they thought we could fight a ground war with no casualties. They didn't use it as an...

Well I'm not so sure about all that, but I can't wait to at least glance at the Nuclear Engineering facilities at Penn State. I'm Aerospace so I don't get to use them, but I heard they're friggin'...

Re: President Bush

In 2002 an overwhelming majority of Americans favored military action in Iraq.

What happened to change it? Did they think we would fight this "war" with no casualties?

Re: Infinity and our Existence

Mathematically you can't even begin to work with infinity without some limits to keep things sane. I am agnostic and my opinions are heavily based in math and physics, so I would probably try...

I'm not going to teach the class over the forums. It just has to do with assumptions that people know the infrastructure of terrorist organizations, without studying it.

Re: What counts as an argument?

An argument is a stance on an issue that you are prepared to defend with facts and figures. A yes/no "argument" isn't an argument at all, it's a contradiction.
