Re: Should I appeal this ticket?

I've had a few friends appeal tickets over the past year and the cop has always showed up. Like Dark said, these are hard times, and it's less likely that you'll see no-shows at the current moment....

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie Part 1

I am not convinced that they needed two movies to tell this story effectively. Seems more like a money-squeeze effort.

It's the same sort of logic they used for making the final episode of LOST...

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?

war veterans are veterans as long as they've served. doesn't matter if they saw battle.

Re: New Veteran Status - Opinions?

stupid -- veteran means old. time based. if you want to add extra **** then don't label it veteran. label it something more apt.

Re: Rubik's Cube Thread

It ultimately becomes pretty boring though. Once you hit the low teens in speedsolving time, it's no longer as much fun because the faster solves are really the result of variance (i.e. "lucky...

Re: Anti-skill tokens

I disagree -- this is a pretty strange and arbitrary way of defining difficulty for reasons I stated earlier. The 12 bracket becomes far too large. Again, it doesn't make sense to lump stuff like...

Re: Musings on Language

Most Chinese dialects do that (Mandarin, Cantonese, etc), and the word you're thinking of is "ma." In first tone, "ma1," it means "mother," but "ma3" (third tone) means "horse."

Just a different...

Re: Anti-skill tokens

Right -- but difficulties ideally need to take in a sort of "open market" effect in judgment. YOU might be better at one given file, but we can say that for MOST people, this may not be the case.

Re: Anti-skill tokens

A broader spectrum only increases the degree of accuracy within the scope -- ideally you need something that is relative.

If you only have two difficulty levels, *ideally* we should say, "Files in...

I'd have to disagree with your points about the file itself -- I think it's a clear example of high-challenge step patterns that actually fit things pretty well. I think it starts to cross over into...

1) IMO it's not a horrible dump chart. Again, I think it's one of the highest-quality NON-dump files out there that is also quite difficult. The ending is dense but that doesn't make it a dump...

Re: What makes a good FFR player?

You become a good player when you can read any stepchart. You become a great player when you learn to optimize your execution to hit what you read at higher levels.
