Again, I'm sorry about this everyone. I had to visit my granddad because he had gotten into an accident...

EDIT: Hey funmonkey, could I get a copy of that detailed scoreboard? Thanks!

How's about you get submissions, keep score, and I check?

thats annoying. Why not just use.. Sendspace and upload the xls?

Not everyone has Microsoft excel for one, and I do not feel like downloading a spreadsheet every time I want to see updated scores.

what commander said. not to mention, you can embed the image right into the thread for really easy viewing.

some of us use open office, which tends to have issues with excel from time to time.

also, getting pissy at funmonkey for not accepting my mental 3. silly specifics that are retarded.

you can't hesitate. and you MUST be like lightning in the 1st 6-7 rounds to get a score over 30k. your score drops dramatically after that... and by level 11-12, it's basically impossible to pass in time. you're having to do 12+ items in 5-6 seconds, give or take.

Congratulations Tass on 4700 points. Wow...

fyi... this was in PM to funmonkey in response ti saying that the 1st round will go to the 11th:

from my experience, that is a bad idea. the longer the rounds, the less active people are. they forget about the tournament, they lose interest, etc etc. in most cases, people submit within 24 hours of the start of a round, then wait for a new round.

IMO, 5 days is too long to begin with. having a 1st round that is 10 days long is going to destroy your activity, which is already kinda poor to begin with... my advice would be to start the 2nd round tomorrow, as initially intended, and send out a batch of PMs reminding everyone that the round is starting.

i think this is why devonin's tournament is doing so well... fast-paced rounds, every 50 hours.

just my opinion, feel free to ignore it... but i do tend to know what i'm talking about.

I agree, I was going to complain about the 5 days when they first brought it up, but decided to not. It's their tournament.

and i still don't get dlesdles... *sigh*

Does it have ANYthing to do with Riddles?

Re: Funmonkey54 and kjwkjw's un-FFRly Tournament

also.... in ANY tournament.... even those who are initially active at the start, some will stop being active towards the end.

if you have 20 active people for round 1, you will see less and less active people for each successive round. even in devonin's. or rubix's. or the ones i've run. i'm sure jon will agree from his as well.

Re: Funmonkey54 and kjwkjw's un-FFRly Tournament

Hm... both of you have a good point. The only reasons as to why we extended the first round, if I remember right, were 1) credit mess-up and 2) lack of people. Although speeding up the tournament may increase activity, what about the number of people? Do you think more activity=more people or more time=more people over that time? Both of them kinda make sense...I just want to see what you have to think about it.

If the second round was to start tomorrow, I'd have to contact funmonkey right away...

Usually in tournaments, it is the same people who will submit. By speeding up the tournament, you will not gain more people, in my own opinion. You started out with a lot of people, but by making a slow tourney, people became disinterested.

Re: Funmonkey54 and kjwkjw's un-FFRly Tournament

actually, tass i don't agree.

In my case, two of the people who finished round 1 dropped out, but 3 active people joined in the later rounds.
Therefore my tourney got more active.

Of course, there are the people who signed up but didn't do anything... but who cares about those people.

Tasselfoot 05-5-2008 11:10 PM

Re: Funmonkey54 and kjwkjw's un-FFRly Tournament

what commander said.... you will not gain many people, ever, by making the rounds longer. generally, people (for whatever reason) don't like coming into tournaments after they've started or after the 1st round.... whether they dont' think they can or they don't think they can compete, i don't know.

but, yea. what happens is you get your initial group that signs up at the start.... and the longer the rounds, the less of those people will submit.

my overall advice: start round 2 as soon as you can. the tournament has stagnated. PM everyone who has posted in this thread telling them that round 2 has started and that the rounds will be moving faster (as opposed to 5 days/round... maybe 3 days/round, there is still a lot of content in each round)... and maybe try to throw in some quasi-flair to make it more appealing for them to submit and participate.

edit: jon... i'm sure you're counting me in that 3. but, it's hard for me to count.... i mean, if i start a tournament, i'll almost always finish it. it just happened that i didn't know about yours until after it had started and gotten to round 2. perhaps yours was an exception, but i tend to remember having less activity in the last 2 rounds than the 1st round or two. and if you look at devonin's, it's pretty clear.

Round 2 is up and ready to go! Would anybody like to donate 13,500 credits so that it is an even 200,000 credits in prizes? I would really appreciate it.

Re: Funmonkey54 and kjwkjw's un-FFRly Tournament

solved mental 3... will submit in a second.

also, fyi, shouldn't ragdoll avalanche be dodged*2? instead of dodged/2. I mean... getting 500 dodged is VERY hard. Getting 2000 dodged is basically impossible. I've played the game at least 100 times and never gotten 500 dodged.
