So simple if you're a cheater. Just to clear it up for people, you may not use an AHK or other keymapping script to make each arrow press register twice or any other sneaky way of trying to cheat the obvious intention of the round, namely that you need to kep track while playing and passing a song, of your boo count and stop as close to 500 as possible.

Edit: Also, I'm back with plenty of time to spare, so the round will be going up properly as normal at 12:00 EST. More other also, I'm never going back to that establishment again. Seriously, no free refills on iced tea? Barbarians.

Also, since I hadn't really parsed exactly how that interaction of life bar to boos worked, the official round is going to require a number of boos that is not equal to the number of total steps in a song. Apologies to anybody who already started on the round, but since the round hasn't actually started yet anyway, *shrug*

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tourney Two

Will it be a range of how many steps in the song? Because the song I'm using is very close to but not 500 exactly. Meh, I'll wait for the round to actually start. =P

So I can't use a song like Save Me?

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tourney Two

fyi... completely disagree with devonin on this one.

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tourney Two

What I mean is: The number of boos you need to generate will not be the same number as the number of steps in any song. I'm not saying I'm going to put some range requirement on it, like the song has to be X steps more or less than the number of boos.

I mean instead of 500 boos, it will be some other number that doesn't map -exactly- onto any song's step count.

And Tass: Mapping one input onto two outputs, no matter what they are, isn't something I support people doing.

If A -> Up, Down

Is invalid, why should a -> up, up be any different?

Anyways, I'm just getting screenshots, go ahead and use whatever means you feel like to generate the score. How am I going to tell the difference anyway? If you want to violate the spirit of the rules because the letter says you can, why should changing the letter to reflect the spirit change anything either?

Mapping two outputs per one input = cheating

Solved... now for the 500 Boos...

edit: Also,

Since this would be trivially easy with autofail: no use of autofail. You
must complete the whole song for the score to count. Score will
be ranked by fewest number of boos under 500

One of these is wrong

jonathanasdf 05-2-2008 12:18 AM

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tourney Two

haha i think the 680 is wrong.

Also, guessing the 100 points is off.

edit done mental. took 20 seconds literally...

yeah dev was basically here, shouldn't be any 100 point 'yay I posted' thing

Re: Devonin's Critical Thinking Tourney Two

No, the 500 at the end is wrong, I changed it, as per my post in the thread earlier, from 500 because I didn't want it to be a value that was -precisely- the number of steps in a song, simply hitting everything twice made it too easy to accomplish. 680 is the number.

Also, I came back hours before the round was up, so obviously bonus points for people who were here on a late round don't apply.

And no, it dinging over to 12:01 before I pressed the submit button does not constitute a late-starting round.

Edit, wow, surprising:

Mental round bonus points

Code:

1  smartdude1212        750
2  EI_Tizzy            650
3  jonathanasdf        600

Hmm, what if before the end of the tourney a song with exactly 680 steps is released? Hmm Tass IS the person who regulates the releases of songs...

xD
