Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I was looking for my MP3 player charger today. I had, at the back of my mind, also a need to look for a graphics program. I didnt find the charger, but I did find Photoshop 5.0. I'm looking at the Adobe website and I just can't seem to find this version (besides Photoshop Elements, but I don't think that is it). It's a limited edition version. I'm gonna install this and see what it's like.

Anyone else use this version (mine is probably really outdated)?

You can always use gimp or paint.net. They are both free.

Wow, I need a new graphics program.

What is a good graphics program?
I want one that you buy, and is quality. I might try paint.net. I'm probably going to use it in my leisure time.

Photoshop cs3 is probably the best none 3d software out there today for graphics. If you want to buy it, go ahead lol. You can always torrent it for free btw.

There you go! Tell me more about GIMP. Is it easy to learn?

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I don't have experience with GIMP, but I've seen digital artists that use only GIMP and they're amazing. Go to http://www.gimp.org/ to download it. I understand that there are plug-ins and add-ons to increase the functionality of the program.

P.S.: About the learning curve - I'm not sure. Some say Photoshop is hard to learn at first, and I would have to agree. GIMP may be easier.

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

i think paint.net would be the easiest

http://www.getpaint.net/

loads of plugins that let you do alot more

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

There are a lot more tutorials out there on using photoshop than Gimp though. In fact, when I was at a borders store, there was only one book sold there on how to use gimp and it was called like Beginning Gimp, but with Photoshop and the many versions of it, there's a whole shelf full, top to bottom, of them.

A long time ago I used to use a program that's called paint shop pro, and it was like version 4 I believe, and that was really good at the time and better than paint.net in my opinion because there was so much more you can do with it. The first thing I've used that has even been able to compare was the Gimp. The newest one is probably really good, but I'm not sure. Photoshop CS3 is the best though, but maybe Paint Shop Pro is a cheaper alternative.

I have Corel Painter X and Photoshop cs3. Corel's interface sucks compared to photoshop but with a wacom its a little more effective for actually drawing. I mostly use photoshop though.

Wow and here I use Photoshop 5.0 for all my graphics needs. Not sure why, but I prefer 5.0 over todays software.

Something simple yet effective is good enough for me. Anyhow go with whatever seems comfortable and soon enough you'll get good at it in no time.

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

For Photoshop, it's just the best graphics editing program period. It's features, tools, filters, etc etc is just what makes it so powerful compared to any other graphic editing program there is. It's capabilities surpass Paintshop Pro, Paint.net, GIMP, etc.

I'd say the best free graphic editing program would be the GIMP, check it out. You don't need a book for tutorials, there's the internet for that.

http://search.deviantart.com/?sectio...=GIMP+tutorial
http://browse.deviantart.com/resourc...rence/thegimp/

I also have Corel Painter X, it's obviously more for digital drawing/painting, but photoshop can do that too.

I don't think I'll ever consider BUYING photoshop...unless I own a business or something and I need it for legitimacy or something lol.

Seriously, just download it, theres so many people that pirated PS lol.

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I definitely would say you should use Photoshop.

If you're going to buy it... or acquire in another method... then go for CS3.

But any version of Photoshop is still great... I use version 7.0

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I also meant there's more tutorials on how to use photoshop on the internet, but I guess there's enough for the gimp though.

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

Can't I just upgrade my Photoshop instead of buying a new one? I know it still costs to upgrade, but it's a lot cheaper, since my mom probably got this from her work for free.

dean_machine 02-26-2008 10:37 PM

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I'm not sure. It might be too old to upgrade, but I don't know.

Re: Adobe Photoshop 5.0

I should be downloading this program any day now.
