Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

I love love love your key mapper program, one problemo that im really hating though.

in MP i keep getting random misses which is irritating as hell, and sometimes when i play, ill hit the arrow, but ill get whatever i got the timing score on and a millisecond later id get a boo, no idea why this is happening, and i dont lose health then.

other than that i love it!

RoastedNoob: It should do all what you say, and does when I test it. Anyone else having that problem with the latest? Try uninstalling and reinstalling it, try it in IE, and report any other odd behaviour.

dood gone krazee: Only on MP? Does it happen single player?

Get someone to help you incorporate this for macs. Now.

I've been experiencing his case in single player, but I thought it was just because I'm rusty. I could have swore I hit it thogh.

Is anyone else getting random misses with this?

Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

I think I get random boos with this. I don't remember it happening with AHK, but I don't complain because my PA is much more consistent with this, so a few boos here and there isn't so bad. No random misses here though.

Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

Small update to 1.12. Minor bugfix - the 'Ignore Cursors' code was interfering with the Boo-Out / Try Again keys.
http://www.latent.demon.co.uk/ffr_keymap.html

I've noticed that occasionally, the program doesn't lock-on to the FFR window properly, making Try Again not work amongst other things. I can't find this bug, but its easily sorted - just switch the mapping off and on once.

Other reported issues don't occur for me (random misses/boos, not remembering settings, pad problems). I haven't played much recently, I'll have a go over the weekend and see if I find any of these.

T)r6g0n: I'm not a mac programmer, nor do I know any with this kind of low-level knowledge. In any case, the code is pretty much entirely Windows-specific because of its low-level nature - it wouldn't help a mac programmer anyway.

Later...

That's probably operator error/keyboard error.

Maybe I should add this program to the keymapping sticky thread.

can someone make a template? (or just I should add the top post?)

nahhhh yeah only MP, i think. havent really tried it alot on SP, ill try it tomoorrow when i have time. But its really annoying because any notes 16th and fast at like 180 BPM i cant hit, its just like BOOBOOBOOBOOBOOBOO!!!
and misses like crazy

Right but when i play with Num pag 6 and 8 and down and left arrow keys in single player im fine, no random misses or boos. course i try doing that in MP and major lag cause it picks up the 6 and 8 in the chat. So i pretty much just cant play in MP at all.

I've uploaded a very simple program to remap the cursor keys for FFR. I know this duplicates the work of jwcgator (AutoHotKey), but this is much simpler to set up, and has a minimum of timing delay:

The program defaults to remapping FFR R1, and can remap the cursors for other windows or programs too. It also supports dancepads, joypads, guitar controllers etc. Unfortunately, R2 and Resonance use low level keyboard access and it doesn't work with them.

Minimum Specification

Works in Windows XP and Windows Vista (may need to use "Run as Administrator" in Vista).
I'm afraid I'm not a Mac or Linux programmer, sorry guys...

NOTE:
To get the absolute minimum of timing delay, the program injects a message hook directly into the target window. This is flagged up as a potential attack by many firewalls and spyware programs - because accessing another window's messages could indicate unauthorised activity. In fact, the program is harmless and simply needs access to the keyboard messages to do its job. However, to be open, I've put the entire project and source code on the above site, so it can be checked and compiled by those who know how.

What program did you use? It looks like Visual Basic.

dood gone krazee: I don't play MP, but 16ths at 180bpm+ are absolutely fine for me in SP. Some very high ranked players seem to use it without trouble too. So any problem is likely due to MP or your computer I'm afraid...

the Guardians: It's written in C++

Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

no it works absoutely fine in SP

its just in MP that its not working, but if i go index and use the regular cursor keys it works fine.

im really not trying to try to degrade your program or make it sound like jumk, i just wanna figure this out, i hate lag in MP. >_>

Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

Official in-game remapping is on the way - the beta is available to subscribers now. So I'll be stopping development on this program now. Thanks to all the people who supported it.

A quick look at the new beta shows that it doesn't register some keys (shifts & similar, function keys etc.) nor joy/pad input. So some people may still find my program useful - I'll leave the website link up.

Next job for me - I think I'll write my own 3rd style if it hasn't appeared by summer - wonder if that will be worth a sticky...

does the ingame keymapper map ; and ' for suscribers?

MRichards 01-26-2008 05:07 PM

Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

Seems to remap every key that creates a specific character - so ; and ' are OK...
