Reverend Joe Somebody?
A high school friend of mine(15 Years Old) says he wants to obtain the title of "Reverend" so it can appear on his report card. Because the title is more of a style than an actual title, I'm not sure about how one would attain such a "title". Now, he's not doing this to go against the word of god or to be very disrespectful.
My belief is that it may be somewhat disrespectful, but he's not preaching the word of atheism and may actually be serious about it. Does anyone have an opinion on this or know how to obtain the "Title" of Reverend legally? |

They'll ordain anyone who asks (I did it), and it's legal. If you present your certificate to the state and pay a very modest fee, you can legally marry people, too. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

That's absolutely absurd. I'm sure it will be brought up in politics one day when it becomes an online fad. What about legal religions? Can you actually get days off of school for that crap?

Re: Reverend Joe Somebody?
You can declare anything you want to be a religious holiday, but unless you have a religion that is formally and officially recognised by the state as a valid religion, you are absolutely not able to just decalre anything you want to be a holiday and expect to be allowed to take that day off work/school.
Also, "I want to become a reverend so that it will be put on my report card" is both horrendously immature, and pretty ignorant. School report cards contain first and last name. There's no room on any of the official forms for a title, so even with a title, they would still appear on their report card with their normal name. Also, should have gone into chit-chat not CT. |
