Trends.

What do you all think the next one's going to be?
I mean a few years ago it was like skater/punk, then emo, then scene.
What's next?

I really don't think that this is CT material.

I could see the 80's coming back, or maybe an entirely different completely ****ty world since the emo's will be adults and in job positions (Seriously, emo's, gtf over yourself, you're worse than preps).

Aye. Motion to be moved to chitchat. Unless someone can elaborate more, I'm not in too much of a thinking mood.

Powerpop seems to be getting pretty popular. But I'd say the next fad will be the whole "indie" thing. I mean, it's already starting with the sudden popularity and influx of "indie" bands...like Interpol, and Hellogoodbye.

Re: Trends.

The last thing I want to see is afros coming back in style.

Due to the lack of ethnic diversity in Concert Band last year, my friends constantly asked me to grow an afro before a special event.

It's probably near impossible for me to grow an afro now, anyway. Due to the fact that I keep my hair short, it just grows thicker as opposed to growing out over great lengths.

I did, however, like high-top fades. No, not like the Kid and Play fades. I had the cut up until third grade, I believe.

I think Indie/Hippie is coming next.

Re: Trends.

A hippie revival I can see happening. Environmental crisis. Unpopular war. A drift from away from "mainstream" artists in favor of self-made bands [Wilco, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have been getting really popular, and they don't belong to a record label]. The internet is playing a major role in the spread of information, instantly. Suddenly the people have a louder voice.

Yeah. It could happen.

A hippie revival is probobly top of my list except without as much drug use of course, but still. you;re right about the internet but also think about MTV or just TV in general, the music choice awards, all the winners set off to be role-models for teens and young adults, thus making everyone want their style. I dont see any celeb dressing as a hippie.

Actually, illicit drug use has been prevalent in America since the 60's. It's use just wasn't used as openly. But the 70's saw the increase in heroine and cocaine users which continued. Crack was introduced soon afterwards followed by Speed, and MDMA.

The next trend is going to be grunge. I'm gonna go get two plaid shirts so I can leave one unbuttoned with a dirty t-shirt underneath and I'll tie the other one around my waist. It's gonna be sweet.

Trends are stupid. They're just as bad as sticking a label on yourself.

Which brings us to the conclusion that if you're going to try to start a trend, find a fashion designer.

Companies that I would probably give trends to:
-Nike
-Possibly South Pole
-BCG

Re: Trends.

FFR needs to create a trend. Shirts that say "I only use one hand..." on the front, and "On FFR" on the back. Turn a couple heads.
