which came first: chicken or egg?

we've all heard this question before...which came first, the chicken or the egg?
so whaddya think?

Dark_Mind 02-7-2004 03:31 PM

I came first.

Ph0biA 02-7-2004 03:53 PM

This is the only answer I can think of:

Well, according to the bible and christianity, the chicken would come first. Eh, i haven't read it in a while but it says something in the book of Genesis that on the 'X'day got made all the animals. Doesn't say anything about making all the eggs..lol.

Of course, this might differ according to your beliefs and stuff, so there is no real answer i guess.

:Edit: Grammar..ppftt

aha...that makes sense, Ph0biA

How do you have a chicken egg without a chicken?

The chicken came first.

jewpinthethird 02-7-2004 04:05 PM

According to evolution, the egg came first due to a mutation in its DNA during it's fetus state.

o.O

Are we talking about the Big Bang theory as the creator of life?

If an egg has to stay warm to hatch, then how could the egg have come first? If a chicken has to be born from an egg, then how could the have come first? My guess is that most likely, there was a creatrue similar to a chicken and it too laid eggs, but something happened which mutated all of the eggs, and made them form like a chicken egg, and the creature would have to keep the eggs warm to hatch, and when the eggs hatched, presto, chickens.

Ph0biA 02-7-2004 04:22 PM

So i guess it could be either.

If your a devout christian that believes everything in the bible, then the Chicken came first.
If your a scientist that doesn't, then the Egg would come first.

uh

lots of things layed eggs WAY before chickens came. o_O

obviously, the anwser is the egg.

Jello 02-7-2004 04:39 PM

none came first.. they slowly evolved.. very slowly over time the ansestor of the chicken started to have slight genetic alterations probably because of climate.. as do all types of animals.. they adapt to the environment and surroundings and change accordingly. so its not like one day a dinosaur layed an egg and a chicken popped out.. it happened over millions of years. my guess is that the FOWL came first.. cuz its the closest relative to the chicken, im not sure about it but i think the fown came first lol

IAMTHEEVILBEAN 02-7-2004 04:46 PM

Obviously egg......The dinosaurs made teh eggs

makaveli121212 02-7-2004 04:51 PM

theres no such thing as a chicken

The big bang theory has nothing to do with evolution.

One of the few things I am positive about is Evolution. Even if magically I convert to a hardcore Christian, I will always believe in Evolution unless Jesus Christ magically jumps out of my oven and says "Dude, evolution is not really" then I would most likely believe him. But until that happens...

jimerax 02-7-2004 04:59 PM

There's no answer for this.
endless argument.

As explained earlier, there are two answers. One based on religion, and one based of FACT.

Laugh.

IAMTHEEVILBEAN 02-7-2004 05:07 PM

The Big Bang was hot.

I wish I would have taped it....:(

Yeah, that post by me made little sense..hehe

What i meant was, your belief on how the world was made changes the way you think about this question.

How do you believe the world was created then jewpin?
If its:

1.Book of Genesis: The universe and everything in it was created by god. All
animals were made by him. So the chicken would come first, right?

2.Big Bang Theory: Earth was created by a chemical reaction, which in the process, made life. Although i don't know much about this theory, i believe that all the creatures started off as just organisms, and just eventually evolved into the animals we see today. So depending on what is classified as a 'chicken', the answer could change.

3.Something Else: o.O

Well, what im saying is, the answer is just a reflection of your beliefs on the creation of life, and will always differ from person to person.

Ok, i could go on, but i'd eventually start talking about reality and things...so i won't.

So the answer is: What you believe in (lol.....what a waste of time XD)

exactly.

I think "egg" is like a evolved formation of cell division.
