drummerboy765 12-27-2003 10:26 PM

to live our life as fully as we can then go to heaven.

Brainmaster07 12-27-2003 10:26 PM

There is no purpose, we will never have a lasting affect on the universe, even if we did its still all going to start over (The expanding/deflating of the universe, big bang theory thingy.)

Anticrombie0909 12-27-2003 10:27 PM

If there is one

^^^ isn't religous.

makaveli121212 12-27-2003 11:26 PM

our purpose is to breed and then die

BluE_MeaniE 12-27-2003 11:36 PM

The purpose is to have fun, without hurting any others.

Anticrombie0909 12-27-2003 11:37 PM

Our purpose is to reproduce. That's it. There's no other logical standpoint you can really take, just a religous one, and I think religion is bullshit, so that's it.

Oh, and 42. (I'm waiting for someone to ask what that means).

makaveli121212 12-27-2003 11:40 PM

no one cares

tristia 12-28-2003 12:06 AM

why are we here... hmm, it was kind of mentioned before but i think it would depend on how you look at it... scientifically, our purpose is solely to reproduce to ensure the survival of our species... religiously (pending the religion) would be somehting along the line sof to learn a lesson or to proceed to another step in our existence... to try and gain understanding... there really is no right answer to this question, lol.

The thing Anticrombie said
Everyone should know what "42" means.
And if you don't, read the book.[/i]

ananana 12-28-2003 12:10 AM

Religiously would be to worship god.

tristia 12-28-2003 12:14 AM

well, i would think that would depend on the religion and a persons own view of that religion... not all religions worship "god" or one god, or any god at all. some have a belief system, all sorts of things i cant even begin to venture into... might not always be to worship god, could be to better urself as a person for example, or to lead a good life in the eyes of your savior and such... not being religious myself, i dont know all that much about what religions do what so i cant get specific.

I made a philosophy essay (not for school, but because I like philosophy) about purpose. My idea was that our purpose IS purpose. We fulfil one purpose, then go around looking for another. You buy a toy you've always wanted. Then you're done.
Buy a movie, watch it. Then you're done. The only factor in life that defies all these 'purpose' rules is the idea of love. You're supposed find that purpose, fulfil it, and keep it. If someone's being shallow and always dumps girls a week later, he's not being a jerk. Philosophically speaking, he's being human.

Just my two pesos.
