What is this forum about.

Well guys I just ditched forums.philosophyforums.com (because of many reasons) and was looking for a forums for critical thinking and landed here via google. But I am confused about this forums. To me, it looks more like a forum for media. Although I haven't browsed enough in this forums but it looks pretty much as I think. Well if it's not a place for critical thinking learners then can you give me a forum for Critical Thinking. If it is the right place them Please answer the foloowing two questions.
Q1. Is the book "INTRODUCTION TO CRITICAL THINKING" by Alec Fisher a good one for beginners.
Q2. Can you recommend me some other good books and online sources where I could found some good reading material?

Please help.

This is FFR, it is an online flash game where you hit arrows in time with music, similar to that of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). That is what this entire site is.

The forums are for various things including talking about the game, bragging about other games or FFR, general talking like chit-chat and media, and then there is also the Garbage Bin which is an area I doubt you would appreciate.

The CT section here is just a section for debates, questions, and other things that can create thought rather than mindless talk.

I am sure you could find a few things to debate or talk about here but this is not an entire forum dedicated to higher level thinking.

Concerning your questions, I have not read the book in Q1 and what are you looking for in Q2, philosophy reading material or what exactly?

If you are seriously looking for a place for critical thinking, Im sorry to say you might want to keep looking. This forum is mainly about ffr (a computer based ddr game) and its "critical thinking" sub forum is full of sarcastic people pitifuly trying to sound a little more intelligent then they really are.

If you're seriously coming from a forum dedicated to philosophy, you may find this thread useful in determining whether or not your goals and ideals indicate you wish to stay here.

EDIT: Even though the topic breaks after the first page.

This forum doesn't really follow a strict set of rules and doesn't deal with a lot of academic philosophy. So don't expect any here.

It's also full of people that are not well educated in philosophy and logic, so what you're expecting to find isn't here. Not that there arn't a lot of intelligent individuals here...that's not the point. The point is, 1. This forum probably won't fuel your interests, and 2. It's not strict, so there are lots of bad posts (guilty).

On that note, I might post one of my philosophy papers as a starting point to fuel a discussion here. This forum might enjoy it.
