It is a stupid idea. I can see why governments accept it but religions accepting it is a total copout and a complete avoidance of true teachings of the Bible d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) It's not something natural and therefore isn't tolerated since it's not normal. As time progresses, people will become more and more acceptant of such acts and it will no longer affect people. e) Why did you choose take this survey? I didn't read many other people's surveys but being homosexual is such a digusting thing. If religions held to their own teachings, it wouldn't exist because people would fear isolation. But once it becomes accepted practice, more and more will ignore it. Sounds dense and cold but that's how I feel. |

Choice. b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? A choice. c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? Le them do what they want; it isn't hurting you. d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) The Bible, honestly. e) Why did you choose take this survey? Helping out. |

- What is... a) Your first name: Cameron b) Your country and province/state (if applicable):USA, California c) Your age: 16 d) Your gender: Male e) Your sexuality: Homosexual f) Your religion: Buddhist g) Your ethnicity: Japanese/Chinese 2. History a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify): A suburb in Northern California (Bay Area) b) Did you grow up with a religious family?: Somewhat, nothing forced. c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small?: Small, my mom moved out so I live with my dad and my sister now. d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? Sister is alright, parents are homophobic. e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? I am gay, and my cousin is gay also. f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? No, I was threatened by others about my sexuality. g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Yes, and I finally decided I was a homosexual and I came out to everyone about a month ago. 3. Present Time a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Yes, people I meet up with from online and friends at school who came out after I did. b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) Close friends, online relationships? Potential boyfriends? c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? I wouldn't really care, nothing has changed about that person, just they are being more honest with themselves. d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They would crack, especially from the pressure and stress of the current divorce. e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? Yes, very much so. 4. Opinions/Deeper thinking a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? You are born with it, it is the same as your ethnicity, you can't change it. b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? That is an imoral question. Homosexuality IS NOT A DISEASE and it is labeled so by society. That is like calling an Asian diseased. c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? It's cool with me, everyone should have equal rights in the world, no matter what sexuality they have. d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Christian faith has become so powerful. They decide to look down upon things that are different or "prove a threat" to their faith so they decide to "take things into their own hands" to try and bash the gays/lesbians. e) Why did you choose take this survey? It helps me thinking back on my situation as a homosexual. Really, it does. O_o |

History a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? Small d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? More homophobic (than I am...) but not extremely homophobic. e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? Not in my family (that I know of)...I have friends that are gay. f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? No g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Yes 3. Present Time a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Yes b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) Friends/acquaintances c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? I don't know. It depends. Not negatively. I would probably support them and make them feel comfortable since I don't have any problems with it. d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? I think they might act strangely at first but would accept it fairly openly eventually. e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? Definitely at school. It has been like that for awhile, especially in highschool...not so much in university. There is definitely a homophobic atmosphere at work (McDonalds). 4. Opinions/Deeper thinking a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? I would say I don't know. There isn't one specific cause that can be outlined as 'the cause of homosexuality'; there are various factors involved and I could probably write an essay on it pretty easily...which I won't do right now. b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? You can probably influence a persons perspective...definitely, over time so that they end up straight/gay ect. It's probably partially genetic and environmental, making it something that would be hard to cure. c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? It's fine with me. I don't see why it should be a problem, logically. There really is no problem with it other than religious ignorance towards it. d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) A lot of the problem is religion. Of course if you're bringing people up with specific beliefs and such, then you are at the same time bringing them up with aversions to certain things. Survival of the species issue is obviously bull****. That's like supporting war because it's population control. We have an overpopulation problem, not a survival issue. That and saying it's unnatural is sort of ironic. A lot of things are unnatural. Cars are unnatural and people drive them. What about the computer you're using now? Must be satanic...oops, computers wern't around when people came with these strange beliefs. I suppose almost inadvertently I've said it also stems from ignorance. e) Why did you choose take this survey? I felt like it. |

Fine, though that person would be unlikely d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They seemed to handle it fine e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? I don't believe so 4. Opinions/Deeper thinking a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? Either a "defect" (though I don't like the connotation of that word), or some sort of recessive gene that could have been prevalent millions of years ago, but has died down to this point of uncommonness b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? Not naturally c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? I'm for it d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) As for me... I guess I may as well answer it anyway, just to share my own thoughts with you all :3 1. General - What is... a) Your first name: Amanda... b) Your country and province/state (if applicable): Ontario, Canada c) Your age: 16 d) Your gender: Female e) Your sexuality: Lesbian f) Your religion: Not totally sure. I have too many ideas to follow one specific religion. g) Your ethnicity: Caucasian 2. History a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify) I grew up in a small town, and have lived in a small city for the past 3 years. b) Did you grow up with a religious family? Not really. We celebrate Christmas with the family and that's about it. c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small? a family of 4, about average i guess. d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? Well, they believe it should always be a man and a woman, but they wouldn't hate someone for being gay, etc. e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? Yup. A few. f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? When I was insecure about my own sexuality, I'd feel uncomfortable with the idea. I have no problem with it at all now. g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? From about the age of 13 until I just turned 16 I was in a questioning stage. Every now and then I'd come out to myself and best friend, but I was never quite sure of myself until just this past summer. 3. Present Time a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? More than ever. b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) Some close friends at school are gay, one of my close cousins just came out to me as bi this summer, my best friend is bi-curious, one of my oldest friends is bisexual and his boyfriend, a newer friend, is gay. c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? I'd accept them whole-heartedly, and if they were unsure or not ready to accept it when they told me, I'd help them get through it and try to help them figure it out. If they were all happy and bouncy about it like me when I finally came out for the real thing, I'd congradulate them and probably throw them a party, haha. It's a tough thing to do. d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They'd find it hard to accept. Honestly, I think if told my parents now they'd think I were just experimenting. I'd have to be in a secure, steady relationship for them to understand how real it is. As for my brother, well, he'd probably discourage it and tell me I'm just experimental, but eventually they would all come around. e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? I suppose to some extent. There is always going to be someone who has a problem with it, and honestly, I don't think anything is wrong with that unless they're causing physical or emotional harm. 4. Opinions/Deeper thinking a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? I never really thought about it before, but I recently read something from another forum. Someone said it could have developed as a form of natural population control. As humans, it isn't really necessary, but homosexuality has been proven to be present in animals as well. If you think about it, if every single organism grew up to reproduce, we'd have too many organisms, even with the whole preditor/prey thing. Anyway. I believe homosexuality is a natural phenomenon and is caused as a foetus is developing in the mother's womb. and that in itself is a whole other topic, I hardly have time to start on that... b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? I'm not sure what to believe for this myself; there re so many different debates about it. I guess my best guess is that it can be partly genetic, and partly disorder... and in some cases, as a child something could happen to make you more cautious around the opposit sex, say in a case of child molestation. c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? I support gay marraige entirely. I feel everyone should have equal rights regardless of sexuality. If it's a religious issue, it's understandable; if your religion has issues with such marraige, don't go for it if you don't want to. But those like myself who don't identify with any particular religion, well I have no problem with it and I would love to be married one day. I think it should be made legal for those who wish to be married, that doesn't mean everyone has to. As for adoption, well, in the present time it would be very hard on a child to have two fathers or two mothers. Even now though, adoption is becoming more common. In a few decades it'll probably be as normal as divorce. When you think about it, divorce a few decades ago was practically unheard of, and looked down upon. Now, it's hard to find a family with both parents. Maybe soon it'll be more common to see same sex marraiges with families. d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Well, ignorance, for one thing. The majority of people just don't know much about it. Since they know so little about it, and since mankind has grown up around traditions of man and woman, they fear it and abolish it. It's different, it's non-traditional, it's against the way 'nature' intends. But if one thinks about it, if a man is born attracted to men, wouldn't that be a natural thing? e) Why did you choose take this survey? Because someone who had answered it suggested I take it as well. I created the survey, I knew my own answers already, but I thought it would be nice to share my own opinions on the subject. |
