THE BATTLE OF THE BRAIN!!!!!!!!

Post your thoughts on the testing on animals for potentially harmful products.

scorpio1690 12-13-2003 03:06 PM

I think that if they can spend enough money to get the rights to test the dangerous products on animals that they should fucking build a computer that you can test them on.

Freak83 12-13-2003 03:08 PM

Would you rather test it on humans? I saw a report on this back in grade 8, they said that they hardly ever test on dogs or cats if anyone can feel better about that. But particually harmful products do have their uses and it needs to be tested. It may seem cruel but if it's not done to animals it would be done to people, perhaps you.

Lupin_the_3rd 12-13-2003 03:08 PM

speaking of testing on animals, did you know that the majority of first aid came from testing on Jews by the nazis (for example: what temp does skin burn, how to treat it, all kinds of shit)

IAMTHEEVILBEAN 12-13-2003 03:08 PM

i think they should test the products on criminals

it'd be all "I wonder if this horribly dangerous bomb works"

"lets test it on the democrats!"

True Lupin. I read a story of a woman who had a baby, and the 'doctor' there instructed a guard to watch her, and make sure she didn't feed it at all. He wanted to see how long a newborn baby would last without any food. In a strange show of caring however, the guard turned away after two days and let the woman smother the baby so it wouldn't suffer. Kinda sad, really.

And about the animal testing thing...it would depend on what animals they were testing, and if it was harmful or not. I mean, if they're testing how many shotgun blasts a chimp can take, obviously no. I even feel its wrong to test lipsticks and such on animals, which they like to do. But if its for medical or serious purposes...for instance, doctors just recently discovered how to extract a gene that allows the backbone to heal if snapped. They broke rat's backs, gave them a vaccine, set the bone and the rats were able to walk again. Studies like that, ones for the common good of people, I feel are okay.

I too agree that it should be tested on criminals. But not democrats.

But the problem is the whole "cruel and unusually punishment jazz".

Lupin_the_3rd 12-13-2003 03:14 PM

we should do tests on stupid people...because they are so stupid, any effect from the product will make them like smarter or something

bballplaya 12-13-2003 03:29 PM

OK Why not test them on incurable people with fatal diseases??

IAMTHEEVILBEAN 12-13-2003 03:30 PM

because.....if you test like medicine on them they are already to weak to react to it....or they might have some bodily deformities

bballplaya 12-13-2003 03:32 PM

true true hmmm why not alternateoblivion then????

Anticrombie0909 12-13-2003 03:33 PM

Because, like Bean said, they might have side effects due to the disease. But beyond that, some people do. For instance, say a kid is dying with AIDS. His parents might decide to try some experimental new treatment that may have potential side effects, but since he's going to die anyway it doesn't matter, and they get hope that he might live. So sometimes that works.

IAMTHEEVILBEAN 12-13-2003 03:34 PM

No...lets test everything on him

and back to the abnormality thing.....people with diseases like that may die more easily as a result of a product.......normal people might survive and be fine

bballplaya 12-13-2003 03:37 PM

Man bean you are evil

Lupin_the_3rd 12-13-2003 05:08 PM

how about instead of a death sentence, prisoners can choose to exploit themself to the good of non fatal science experimentation and be allowed to live or something... i dont know...

drummerboy765 12-13-2003 05:14 PM

omg, bean i can't stop laughing........you are sooooo random

RedNovember 12-13-2003 07:34 PM

Ahh too late
i like cheese

test it on humans...

87x 12-13-2003 07:53 PM

well.. human testingis acceptable in some cases... they put adds in the paper for testing some kind of new pill all the time.. everyone knows the old.. get 6 people give three of them placebos and the othre 3 the new medicine.. that human testing... but for more complex and life threatening things i would agree on animal testings.. my reason is simple..

lets say they are testing on rabbits.. the ratio from rabbits to people is probably about 3:1(this is not scientific just a guess)..based on those numbers and the reproduction rate of rabbits.. it could easily be 5:1 within a year.. and then 10:1 within the next year.. and continually growing.. agreed that nautre will take its course and will only support as much life as it can before it equals itself out again.. why not use the animals for testing.. ( I dont know where im going with this.. )... but this all goes to those animal rights activists.. i dont understand these people.. they all same the same thing.. save the animals... yea.. lets se how much your saying that with you have a 3 hundered pund lion about to punce you and eat your heart out... lets see.. shoot the lion save yourself.. or let the lion kill you because he's only looking for food and he doesn't know any better.. hmm.. live or die... i would choose live.. but then i would be the center of a mass uprising about how people are barbarians.. NOW this ties into vegetarians.. did you know that vegans (true vegans that don't any type of animal product) have to take pills to get all the nutrients and vitamins they need to live?.. oh yea.. pill popping.. very natural way of life... i just dont understand some people..
