How come god created the tree of knowledge?

I have a question, How come God created the tree of Knowledge?
He knew adam and eve would eat from it and screw the rest of us over. I think he's like Jigsaw from saw and wanted us to eat the apple. He knew to surviv we would be but it was gonna hurt a lot afterwards.

The Garden of Eden is a metaphor, don't think TOO much into it.

We all know that the Genesis is at the very beginning of the Bible; it's rather obvious.

What Guido was refering to is where did you read that God knew that Eve was going to take the apple from the tree.
I don't believe that was stated in the Genesis.

The snake, a very common symbol of evil and deceit, tricked Eve into taking the apple. God created men as innocent creatures who had to learn their way in the world they were born into. Eve was manipulated; it wasn't God's intention.
Go grow some reasoning.

If someone told me I could live in paradise as long as I didn't eat a ****ing apple, I think I could handle it.

And please, never try to compare the bible to a horror film again.

i'm sorry it's just i needed something to compare it to.
but i'm confused still?
but why did he make the tree ,it was really tempting
god could have avoided the whole thing if he never created the tree

Adam and Eve were still new to the world and innocent; they were told of the consequences but were unable to envision them, knowing nothing of death, pain or unhappiness.

The world is filled with obstacles that one is bound to confront. In this case, temptation is one of these obstacles. Adam and Eve failed to overcome it. They were both punished for it.
I suppose this is what the story is attempting to portray. It is not a factual story, unless you feel comfortable believing it is (a whole different discussion.)
I see The Genesis as a fable. It teaches something that we, as human beings, seem to always forget: morals. Most of the Bible is this way. It jsut so happens that the Genesis's moral teaching is to learn how to resist temptation.
Don't take it seriously.

You know the second I post my opinion this forum will get locked.
So I really shouldn't even bother.

It's funny how anyone can voice their opinions against the validity of religion but the second a believer gets in there we gotta stop that.

EDIT: That's my hundredth post, sad eh?

W00t for non-believers! 30% of the voters in this poll are non-believers, me being one of them. And you know who else is a non-believer? Shashakiro! If you don't believe me, check out his myspace by searching his email: What the hell are you doing?

You honestly think God gets drunk and that his intent is to torture his creations?
