Go

The reason I put this in criical thinking is because Go is the most complicated game ever created. Its not that hard to play, but the number of game possibilities is so large the if each digit was the size of an atom, the chain of numbers would streych across the know universe one thousand trillion times.
Pretty interesting.

Re: Go

Yes, I love Go.

I play with my friend a lot, normally once every week or so.

I'm not too great at it yet. I usually only win when I'm white because of komi. <_<

Re: Go

if you're winning by komi then either you're not playing on 19x19 or you guys are ridiculously evenly matched

ps this is a good game

Re: Go

You play on a 19x19 board, and you have to line up 5 in a row, I think.

Re: Go

man that game is too much for me, its really really tough... i understand but i couldnt figure out a strategy for beans... anybody know how long it would take for me to play before i actually start understanding what moves would work to my advantage and what moves would put me in jeopardy of losing stones?

Re: Go

read books

it's not that easy a game to pick up unless you learn it from another person or a book because you need a lot of background just to be able to know how to establish yourself decently

beginners should play on 9x9 or 13x13 so they can focus on learning the rules or learning tactics

ps KILGA I LOVE YOU :*

Kilga's comic is win, yes.

If you're into games like Go where individual moves matter little compared to your overall strategy, meaning intuition is more important then calculation, may I recommend Feeble Chess?

Uhm, I hate to be a nay-sayer, but...no? That number would be a Googleplex to the Googleplex to the Googleplex(...)power

Re: Go

Too bad we don't know how big the known universe is. It's billions of lightyears across. Go probably has 10^100 possible moves (estimate). I don't think you could stretch it all the way across space. =/

I've never really played Go much, but I've been meaning to try to learn how to play it. I'm more of a chess man, with some occasional checkers, playing about GM level chess. I've watched a few games of Go before and it looks pretty interesting, so once midterms are over ;o
