Meditation
Does it really work? I've never been able to meditate, although I'm probably doing it wrong. Is there even a special way to do it? Certain music to listen to? What to do before hand? Living in a house with 4 other siblings isn't exactly the quietest place.

Re: Meditation
I meditate quit often, its not something that everyone can do, but if your serious about trying its quit difficult. It takes a clear, focused mind. You need to find a spot that you can truely relax for a few hours (depending on if you can actualy give this a serious try).
First Off when you truely meditate you WILL lose track of time, i have gone into meditation fits for a few hours before, but not everyone gets results from meditation. So lets start by getting you some music, if you have Lime Wire or Aries, simply time in Trance, Soothing, Meditation, Enya, Or Enigma, Or another band you know of, Find a playlist of a few songs, or one song that is an hour or so long, DONT choose a song because you like it, just chose like a deep forest meditation song or something, once this is done, simply turn off all your lights, and light a few candles and turn on your selected music. You must relax, time some of your first dozen breaths or so, 1... 2.... 3... breath in, 1... 2... 3... breath out, do this slowly, after you get a decent slow pace (not to slow as to strain your breathing and make it hard though) you need to sit cross legged-style, theres not particular way to rest your hands, i usualy drape them over my knees, but you can find a comfortable position yourself. Next step, this is the hard part, you must TRUELY clear your mind, this is extremely hard and the area that most people fail, because most peoples minds run amuk with random thoughts and questions. I found that when i first started meditating, i thought of blackness.... darkening my mind so that no thoughts could stray into my head, but this is something you must figure out yourself. Its not an easy thing to do, but once you do it, it will come easyer and easyer each time. When you finaly reach the point where you can truely meditate, you will be extremely satisfied, i remember my first TRUE meditation session, and when i regained awareness i felt new, refreshed, and just all around good, the relaxation you get from meditation is impossible to compare to anything else. Good luck, and post back if you or anyone else has any luck with this. |

I only have myself to blame for this thread being recreated. You made this last night, but I moved it to Chit Chat (and didn't leave a redirect because I figured you'd see it there first) because it's really not CT material. Try it over there. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |
