Hey, like I said in my post, I feel that way, too, but I can see where anti-masturbation people are coming from.

I think this is a rational discussion, so I moved the topic again, and renamed so it won't draw in people from the front page who never post in Critical Thinking. Like JasonKey.

Don't take the bible seriously.

Masturbate away.

Followed through with Equs's article.

Quote:

No. --The "ten commandments" (see Question 1) do not condemn any sexual acts. The only sexual practice prohibited by the list in Exodus 20 is adultery, which, although a valid marital concern, is a legal act between consenting adults. The violent and degrading crimes of rape and incest surely should have rated a "top ten" list, but they do not appear. Adultery in the Old Testament was considered a crime that could only be committed by a wife. Harper's Bible Dictionary explains: "The law was probably intended to ensure that any child born to the wife was really the husband's child, since it was considered crucial for the husband to have offspring, so that the family name could be perpetuated." Adultery had bearing on the patriarchy, while more violent crimes did not.
So there ya go.

PS, the site is a good read. Factual evidence throughout.

Technically the Bible describes adultry as anything from sex outside of marriage to "lusting" after someone.

So, what are you thinking about while you masturbate. If it's sex with someone, your sinning.

PS. Another Christian control technique

Evil Hobo's sig has made my day. On topic, at the end of the day its written down in the bible that its a sin. Thats all you need to know really. You can't change that fact. Hell everybodys a sinner really.

Well, that's what this entire topic is trying to prove / disprove.

If it were really that easy, it wouldn't be so heatily debated.

Yea I understand that this is a debate. I thought however that rain or shine, in gods eyes masturbation is a sin. I was just adding that, in my opinion masturbation is written down as a sin. So therefor masturbation is a sin and you can't change that fact. I personally don't agree with this but opinions wont change facts.

Re: That topic.

I'm pretty sure the passage quoted earlier is the only place from which a more-or-less explicit denunciation of it comes.

Of course, since masturbation is obviously tied to lust, there's that problem which is mentioned more than once, but nothing explicitly against it, from what I recall.

The world is full of sex now. If we were punished for sinning in this conduct, then this entire planet would go to hell. If there is a way that we all could go to heaven, god would have to lower its standards and keep it there because sex will only get worse.

Eh, I try. This is sad, but I am non-denomination. I gota have a religious belief or there is no point of living at morale standards.
