911 Call Treated as Prank
http://www.woodtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=4739612
This is easily the most appalling news story I've seen in a long, long time. Short article, doesn't need a quick summary posted here. |

O shi...

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
I heard about this on the news.
She deserves to be sued out of her mind - poor kid. |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
It's real sad that the 911 operator thought this was a joke. I know they get hundreds of prank calls a day, but still, you can never be too sure..

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
Sue her until she's walking around in a barrell.

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
That's gay.

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
It's the mom's fault for having a kid at 40.
|
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
That's terrible...
EDIT: Yanah, you've never had a parent die on you, have you? --; It's not very funny... |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
rofl, I agree that that was bad. But I also knew it was going to be stated eventually, and I'm never the first to note that kind of thing. =(

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
That's definitely got to be the most horrible thing for a young child to experience ever. Imagine, your responsible parent teaches you that you call 911 in an emergency, and then when you try to get help for that parent, you're scolded. And your mom dies.
Did anyone hear about the cat that dialed 911 when its owner passed out? They took that **** seriously, but not a child who called TWICE. This is seriously infuriating. |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
cat called 911? shenanigans.
|
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
I don't know about you guys, but the first thing that came to my mind as a 6-year-old was to make a prank phone call to 911. Twice.
|
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
It made it onto the Early Show. They interviewed the cat owner.

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
One time, in 2nd grade, I went out to the pay phone outside the library to call this kid up with my friend. Well I ended up pressing 911 and hung up immediately. We ran back inside.
5 or 10 minutes later a cop came inside and was like "did anyone here dial 911?" and we were like "no. but there were some 8th graders walking close to the library." I felt guilty about it for such a long time. |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
That's so terrible. I thought that they had to send cops out no matter what. I feel really bad for that kid. At least he was able to call 911.
As for the operator, I don't know how she's going to live with herself. |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
A cat dialed 911? i want that cat so bad =(
|
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
Thats cool the cat got trained to call 911. Sad kid though.

Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
I love the 20 posts/page thing. Praise Synth.

I also find it odd that she had years on the service but she considered this call to be a phrank. Usually people like that are inexperienced and have very little years behind them. |
Re: 911 Call Treated as Prank
When i was little my cousin's phone number started with 916, so i would sometimes accidently call 911 and hang up in a panic, and the cops would come to our door, lol
But yeah this is sickening, she should be fired regardless of her years of service |
