New arcade DDR

DDR Super Nova is coming out in the US very soon. It's very surprising to see a new mix coming out after Konami seemed to have abandoned DDR arcade machines altogether.

All the info can be found here:

http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewt...er=asc&start=0

Here's to hoping it doesn't suck.

RE: New arcade DDR

Sweet. It can't suck. How can you mess up DDR?

Eyoshi 01-12-2006 05:15 PM

DAMN IT I WANTED TO BE THE TOPIC MAKER!

Anyway, this appears to be all we can know for now:
- Release planned for North America (and maybe Europe...maybe).
- Konami is making the game, but Betson will distribute it.

Hopefully there's more to come.

MrGiggles 01-12-2006 06:24 PM

#@$#, me too Eyoshi. Looks like fun.

fenixflamefox 01-12-2006 07:31 PM

Dear friggin lord. I need this game like no other :o

dAnceguy117 01-12-2006 09:15 PM

DDR SuperNOVA

What a lame name. If Konami does not step it up with this release, the "DDR is dead" topic will no longer be even remotely debatable.

Xiaounlimited 01-12-2006 09:28 PM

Wasn't something like, DDR Str!ke coming out?

I'm not with the times...

-Tu- 01-12-2006 09:33 PM

SuperNOVA isnt a terrible name, though different

is it just me or are the slacking on their logo?

and does the red remind you of anything?

anywho i still wanna play this a lot, even if there is a high chance of the us getting screwed.
we all know that game developers look at something that's popular and copy it hoping for the dough.
there was also discussion of making arcades by all new machines..
maybe the pads will actually last.

ddr_f4n 01-13-2006 10:05 PM

will it ONLY be for the arcade?

i want to get it for Xbox 360!!

WHOA WHOA WHOA! Slow it down there, killer! This is going to be, initially, an arcade-only release. Why in hell would you want to play it at home when you can play it on high-quality arcade pads in an arcade atmosphere with several other players to chill out with?

Are you an introvert? Pinching pennies? What? There's no advantage to playing at home when you can go to the arcade... unless you're broke.

ckj846 01-14-2006 11:55 AM

I guess I was a little wrong about DDR dying.... Well, it was dying but now I guess Konami decided to do something about it.

Cool.

glaexeaus 01-15-2006 02:34 PM

DDR Strike is for the ps2 and we don't even know for sure it's gonna be in America. DDR Super Nova better not be like that Dancing Stage Fusion which came out last year or sometime like that...

DJSBX 01-15-2006 08:05 PM

umm... DDR Strike is the JAPANESE Extreme 2... so it wont be comeing to the us... seriously people... get some brains.

In other news, this better be the best FREAKING DDR ARCADE EVER!

And to everyone who doubted me a while ago when I said there would be another arcade release, ha.
This shouldn't suck since they are seriously thinking about the competition they are getting from roxor. Hopefully they will make 1. good stepfiles combined with 2. a good song list

Cutriss from DDRFreak has acknowledged that, no matter how he put it, Dancing Stage Fusion pretty much sucked. He said that Super Nova will not be anything like that, and definitely will not be a disappointment. I'm really not sure what to expect, though because Konami is gearing this mix to the U.S. The Dancing Stage series was never really any good, and it was UK-only. DDR USA wasn't spectacular, but then again, the game as a whole was in its infancy. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

ckj846 01-16-2006 04:51 PM

I hope that this doesn't turn out like DDR USA mix. I guess we have to wait and see. Keep us updated nforcer!

Moogy 01-17-2006 08:51 AM

Konami's only doing this because ITG is taking up too much of their marketing share in the USA. Japan couldn't care less about DDR at this point.

nforcer06164 01-17-2006 09:35 AM

I'll keep you updated as I notice new information. Unfortunately, not much is really being discussed on DDRFreak as of now (as usual). It's turned into n00bs saying, "Oh, yay!" and Cutriss and Arch0wl arguing about DDR and ITG. Nothing new has really surfaced. There's nothing on Konami's site to suggest that this is in development. If this is a really early April Fools joke for DDRFreak... well, let's not think about that =P

EDIT: New info on BMS.

ATEI 2006 (Jan 24th to 26th 2006 in Earls Court, London) is the fist place in the World that anyone will see the game. The game on show will be approx. 75 percent complete. It will be launched later in the year through the KCOE European distributor network.

We have listened to player’s feedback and included points where possible, to be able to create a product that we feel offers something for everyone, whether a hardcore player or a new player.

At this time the only information I can give you about the machine is:

• The game is a Global version (not regionally specific, therefore US and EU are the same versions).
• There will be a huge track list on it (at this time we are speaking to music licensors therefore the list is not complete).
• There are new modes and game play.

As the name suggests this is going to be big!!!!

Please try to come to ATEI to sample the game and let me know your thoughts and opinions on it.

After the show we are planning on testing the machines in Europe although the locations of the test have not been finalised at this time. I will try to update you all ASAP.

Best regards

This is apparently an announcement of both Dancing Stage SuperNOVA and DDR SuperNOVA. Okay, so it's a Dancing Stage, too. Now I'm officially scared.
