The Christians are Evil?
I found this on GaiaOnline while I was looking for kicks in their Extended Discussion mockery of CT. This actually intrigued me and I dare not share my thoughts before I post it up for a while.

How was this piece of work on Gaia.
Tell that girl to get her ass out of there. |
RE: The Christians are Evil?
Well, I personally am not realigious. I actually like learning. I look at those people who are barely passing and think to myself, "Sure, school isn't fun but it sure is nice to know things unlike that guy over there." I don't believe in God just because in my opinion, it makes more sense that we were evolved from primates.
The only way i could possibly believe in God is if it went like this: God put a bunch of stars (I don't know exactly) out in the Universe. They started to spread apart. blah blah blah, single cell organisms show up on Earth. Of course there wouldn't be any divine intervention. |

Ramonesfan, I think you completely missed the point of that.
I agree with it. Yes, people are entitled to their own opinions, but even then, you can't deny the good Christians have done. Of course, there are negative things as well, but you'll have that with anything. The good far outweighs the bad. |
RE: The Christians are Evil?
Q, get that person on FFR. I don't agree with all she said, but it is nice to see someone who has a brain. It seems to be getting rare these days.

RE: The Christians are Evil?
someone needs to enlighten her to the FSM
I agree that the religion bashing needs to stop. The age on earth where everybody argues on which religion is better and tries to kill people over it is over. That was at least one hundred years ago, at the least. Nobody (except for those crazy terrorist folk) really tries to force their religion on anyone else. I am personally not a Christian. I'm a Hindu/FSMist (yes you can be both) I also have nothing against TV ads like the christian children and stuff. I just don't think it is really a useful ad because not many people are THAT religious any more. Slapping a religion on a perfectly good charity doesnt seem to help it as much as it hurts it. It should focus more on the charity and less on the religion. I, like ramonesfan, like learning. I do know a lot about the scientific way of thinking, but I can distinguish between the two perfectly well. I realize that the theories clash completely, but I accept that this will never be resolved. Religion will be religion and science will be science. Whenever I am learning about Science, I keep religion out. Some people just have issues doing this. And vice-versa. When learning about religion, you cant really throw in science because it contradicts (and the people teaching get mad). My dad is actually a really religious Hindu guy and he makes it very clear that he is basically anti-Darwin. He puts his religion over science. I, on the other hand, dont put either over the other. Its not that I try to keep them balanced either, because that doesnt work very well. I just keep them completely different, because they can't fit together, ever. Religion is based on faith in a superior being, and Science is based on evidence. Evidence and faith are two things that will never go together. You will never find evidence of a god and you will never get a good scientific theory on faith. Honestly I dont know how I rambled into science, but whatever -chickendude |

Oh, come on. The violent past of Christianity is completely irrelevant. The girl was talking about present-day Christianity and how it's talked about (in such a community) today.
You still can't deny the good Christians have done. Sure, there were some really bad ideas in its name five hundred years ago, but that's obviously not the point of her post. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Televangelism.
I rest my case. |
RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
Really, Christian bashing is just too easy. That's why I stopped.
Oh ho ho, just kidding, I havent stopped. But seriously though, I have nothing against Christianity and Christians. What I dont like is the "moral superiority" some Christians flaunt in front of science and other subjects that they disagree with. I mean, afterall, America is not supposed to be a country that caters to only Christians, so perhaps they should stop acting like it is. |
RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
Don't postwhore, especially in CT.

RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
Do any of you know that the reason people began to follow Buddha was because Indians were looking for Jesus and they ran into a man who taught almost like Jesus, therefore worshipping Buddha. Little known fact.
I'm tired of being bashed just because I'm a Christian (and darned proud too). "OMG God doesn't exist111OMGROFL" We never said anyone had to accept our beliefs. We put the word out and its your choice if you want to accept it or not. Now when I say we I mean Christians. The Catholics (which my father is) have offended me by making a homosexual a head priest. Now I have nothing against gays because I have gay friends, but why have someone head a church wehn it clearly says in the bible in Deuteronomy I think, that a man shall not lie with another man. I find that strangely retarded. |
RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
As far as I can remember, Hinduism is one of the few big religions that doesnt have a past of just forcing other people to join the religion. Thats why its relatively peaceful and nobody bashes it. They don't have any history of pushing religions on people and they still don't do it now. Thats also why everybody doesn't know their inner workings like other religions. For Example, I (a Hindu) basically know how Christianity and Judaism work completely. And I have a pretty good grasp of how Islam is as well. But the average person from those religions wouldnt know about Hinduism. The reason is, Christians still (not forcefully like before) but still push their religion by putting stuff in advertisements on regular places (I.E. not the christian channel). Most common hotels have a bible in the drawer, but why dont they have a torah, koran, mahabharata etc.? Christian religion (because its the most common religion) still seems to think it is more important and put ads for themselves (not christians, but christian related things) in places where it is well known that not only Christians are exposed to.
And don't say that everyone else can do it to so its fair. For any other religion it would be a waste of money. Christians are still spreading word about their religion, even if they dont know they are. Others aren't Done |

Actually, in Dueteronomy, it says "A man shall not lie with another man as he shall lie with a woman" or something to that extent. And, that can't happen, unless Man B has a Mangina.
Besides, all the gay bashing stuff in the Bible is the Old Testament (Before Jesus/tolerance)... So... Yeah. Mal |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
Mal, all the stuff pertaining to homosexuality in the Bible is in Leviticus, I am fairly certain (I saw it in context).
But if the Christians are going to follow obscure Bible verses (like the ones pertaining to homosexuality), why don't they follow all the verses in Leviticus as law? Who's up for some animal sacrifice? Child beating, anyone? |
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: The Christians are Evil?
I honestly think most religion bashing comes from people of other religions.
I'm catholic, and i'm not ashamed to admit it. Sure I think my religion has done some really retarded things in the past. They also haven't updated themselves since like the 1700s, and so we look really dumb trying to stay in touch with the present. I think arguments over religion start with the religious people, not the people who are athiests. Athiests say things and we religious folk get upset about them, and start arguing. No matter who is right, we'll never admit it. Anyways, just wanted to say that. A lot of people think it is Athiests who start all the crap, I will admit some young stupid people do, but most of the time it's just the religious people diving in there to defend their beliefs. |
