Futakoi Alternative
You liked FLCL, right? I thought so.
Take the utter insanity of FLCL and then add a bunch of cute teenage twin girls. Now give them all guns and rocket launchers and jet bikes, and have them battle random giant gooey white monsters among other things. With this you will have Futakoi Alternative. This show is like taking the word awesome and making a series out of it. Of course, it's not certain yet if there will be all too much substance to the show, but that doesn't really matter. But judging by the way the first episode ended, I do believe that the series is going to be delivering some drama somewhere along the line, which would make it that much better. The plot at this point is fairly basic: Rentarou is a college dropout who runs his own detective agency, and for some reason or another Sara and Soujo, two 15 year old twin sisters live with him and are utterly devoted to him. Much insane gunplay and explosions insue while they tackle their detective missions. In the midst of all this are five other sets of teenage twins, including the swordswomen Ai and Mai (I think those are their names) and the rocket launcher bearing Lala and Lulu. Speaking of Lala: ![]() Go. Watch this now. I command you. |
RE: Futakoi Alternative (I command everyone to watch this)
And I just started torrenting My Heemay. Thanks for making me want yet another series I had never heard of before, you evil, evil man. >:|

RE: Futakoi Alternative (I command everyone to watch this)
Futakoi Alternative huh?
Well then..., so shall it be written, so shall it be done. I will watch this new series as commanded. |
RE: Futakoi Alternative (I command everyone to watch this)
Man, my eyes feel the way vodka smells.
Nonetheless, I will check out this Futakoi Alternative. |

Mai-HiME is actually moving at a greater-than-1%-a-day pace, so I'll get to see it sometime this year.

Faster than one percent a day? Blasphemy.

RE: Re: RE: Futakoi Alternative (I command everyone to watch
I could package my CDs and mail them to you faster than that.
Still haven't seen episode one of this, but I have it and I intend to watch it over dinner. ~Squeek |
Hell yes, this show rocks.
Lala demonstrates the PROPER way of dealing with tentacle demons. ![]() |
Whoo. Saw episode 1. I cannot wait for episode 2. I anticipate this show to be absolutely the greatest I have ever seen. If the show keeps up with the way it was in episode 1, there won't be any problems.
Yes, this crushes FLCL, Jubei-chan, and Excel Saga in terms of random hilarity. Saying it's funnier than Galaxy Angel may be a bit of a stretch. ~Squeek |
Holy crap.
Too bad I'll never see it. |

I'll reserve judgement on this one until I see it. |
Re: Futakoi Alternative (I command everyone to watch this)
Oh, I finally got around to reading Kefit's summary of the show. Calling Futakoi Alternative random is rather insulting to the show. It's not messed-up Family-guy-shock-for-the-sake-of-comedy thing or an off-the-wall Excel Saga thing. Everything happens for a reason! : o
Also: Characters Sara and Souju ![]() ![]() Lulu and Lala ![]() Ai and Mai ![]() Suireko and Kaoruku ![]() Kira and Yura ![]() Ui and Koi ![]() |
I would love to give into your commands, Kefit, but I have no idea how to get a hold of this without bittorrent. Any benevolent souls out there?

I hear www.bittorrent.com is pretty generous in regards to BitTorrent.

After having watched episode 1...
I really hope the thing with the lolis at the beginning that was used simply to display the title and get to the city is not going to be a recurring theme. Not even FLCL took 7-minute-long chunks out of their alloted 24 and wasted them on something completely irrelevant to the plot. Plus "Lala-chan! Lala-chan! Lala-chan!" got really annoying, really fast. If they're going to do something those girls, then they should do it real soon. Otherwise they're a complete waste of time, time I'd rather see dedicated to the main story. As for the main story itself, it was more than entertaining enough for me to forgive the pointless crap at the beginning. I also liked the ending, both for the song (reminded me of the Guu Final ED, which I love) and the animation (reminded me of the Shinobuden ED, which I love). The little story they had going on during the credits was pretty out-of-charaacter given what the three of them had just been doing for the past 15 minutes. This show certainly has a lot of potential, and I will be looking forward to it in the same vein that I keep a vigil for new Guu Final/Negima/Ultimate Girls episodes. |

Matthew's already offered it to me, but he's not on at the moment and I was away when he talked to me. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |
Episode 2 has now been released! I'm getting it right now, so I'll have to comment later.
