It looks cool. I don't know much about this kind of stuff, but the containment within the circle seems pretty useless.

Either way, good job on making it all by hand.

Good job making that by hand, it kicks ass.

ok here is what bothers me. You have this sphere/circle (i have no clue which of the two, ill get to that in a sec) surrounded by this diffused aura of ethereal blue light (color theory classes will tell you that blues in that tonal range provoke feelings of mystery and the supernatural). Then you move into this sharp image of lightning hitting a pond. At the very minimum Id duplicate the center section, add a gaussian blur to it, then add an alpha mask consisting of a black to white radial gradient. This will move the image from a sharp center to a blurry circumference(sp?). Hopefully this will also rectify my other issue with the image being that it just looks like a hole cut in the black to reveal the image below. It lacks any sort of depth whatsoever. the previous technique if performed correctly should hopefully make the image somewhat spherical in look. It has the potential to be a nifty pic, work on a little more though.

im not.... it is my critique of the image. If you feel you can give a better one feel free to do so.

Only one suggestion: make the blue aura thing be in less of an angle to the top. That way, it will be more like it's floating and flaming, or something. i dunno, just a thought.
