Thanks, that's nifty and I've always been afraid to play with those.

That's my biggest issue with mirror: it's only ever useful for one section of a song for me and everything else in the song is made a billion times harder. There's very few songs where mirror across the whole song is useful so as much as I'd like to use it I can't most times. : (

If you don't like these rolls you can do well timed double in the middle of the each 2notes. You need to be really precise but it avoid to roll.

Re: 13th Official Tournament

Mirror is useful for like stuff in IIDX but rarely do I use it for anything four panel.

EDIT: Also AAA'd my song so there's that. D2 is easier then the last few tournies I feel

Re: 13th Official Tournament

Well D4, if you weren't comfortable with rolls before, you're going to be :]

For the record, I need to use mirror for it as well. I've always been better at rtl rolls, not sure if it has to do with handedness or if it stems from my days playing one-handed with my right hand. I'm totally on autopilot for the jumpstream(?) and rolls, which I find really interesting about this game.

I was overly optimistic from the preview, but I can still definitely improve my score (if I can ignore the nerves). I really like D4's song selection so far. RIP D5.

Re: 13th Official Tournament

You can hit the first 2 notes of the roll and hit the last 2 ones like a jump and still AAA on INSERT COIN.

Just saying in case you want a consistent setup instead of the rather precise rolling required.

I'll have to try that and see how it goes!

wow my hands are shaking lol, pulled off a 5-0-0-1 on that song by a miracle.. let's hope it's enough to get to top 16!

I really don't like this song and my hands need a rest anyways so I think my 1-1-0-0 is just going to stand for this round. I'm having a really hard time finding the tempo and beat on this song for some reason.

Ah yes, the "I've practiced one section so many times I forgot the rest" issue.
Try iso'ing both the jumpstream AND the rolls AND a little bit AFTER the rolls so that you can get both the jumpstream, the transition from jumpstream to rolls, and the transition out of the rolls so you don't mindblock that too because it's happened to me so many times.

Good rule of thumb is iso the stuff before the section (assuming it's not just like 2 notes at a time) and iso the stuff after the section (again, assuming it's not just like 2 notes at a time) so you can get the transitions in and out of the difficult thing super well.

That's just about where I lose it too. I did a bunch of chores after I got home from work so maybe being an adult before playing games might make me feel a little better about playing than I did yesterday.

welp thanks for hosting guys its been real. how i got what i got i have no idea and now i'm averaging like 80 raw goods per play no matter how i play it from key setup to mirror/normal. d6 is way too good for their own money.

dude, so many runs on this song feel like praying for good rng. i've been referring to the d6 song as RR, and to be honest it takes on a double meaning because EVERY run feels like a sweaty feverish game of russian roulette.

You really gotta be on your A+ game to tackle this chart with even a PB, let alone trying to FC, or SDG, or AAA. But hey, the fact that you got an impressive score means you know it's doable in an optimal mentality and physical state, so you know it's possible. <3

Yes. : ) I find it even weirder because I consider lawnmower hands to be detrimental to me because it makes my keypresses feel squishy and just... not very confident, for lack of a better descriptor.

Re: 13th Official Tournament

alright this isn't even funny anymore, INSERT COIN's jumpstream: easy, rolls (with mirror): easy, having a mindset set with going for AAA after you AAA all the hard stuff: easy. But when your brain literally diminishes into nothing at the end of the song and you get hella nervous because you want the AAA: Brutal.

I've definitely gotten some great scores with lawnmower hands, and I feel the exact same way. I might dump stupid goods here and there because of the squishyness, but lawnmower hands enable nuts stuff outta nowhere

D2 iis a really scary place to be tbh, SDG is not nearly good enough to stay in, even from R1. Comparison to my last OT (11) where i did not have as much time to play but made it to 18th place is huge.
It is making me go all out though (ii probably won't be able to AAA but I have my eyes on that top 16 badge. xD

Yeah Xsplit is lookin pretty nasty too. I'm bad at jumpstream normally and my wrist has decided it wants to hurt a lot for like no reason so it's a bit of a yikes goin into R3 rn.

Also those like weird 2-framer minigluts in the middle of the jumpstream are mean as shit and I'm gonna struggle eternally on those.

D2 is heckin' brutal, lol. Not quite AAA or die, but still a bit ridiculous that it's SDG and die for me. Probably won't make it out of Round 2, but that's fine. Maybe if I disappear for another year or two my skill will come back.

if this is sharpnel's shind bad it's gonna be a bad time for me based on what i know about my skillset so u h o h.

cuz my right wrist has been hurting for the past couple days and we suspect carpal tunnel (pls no) or some sorta RSI which is a y i k e s so I may not even play for half the round which is uh... w e l p.

cuz the issue i have with that is i haven't even been doing anything too intensive the past three days so how it's started hurting so suddenly and so badly (it's startin to hurt up my forearm) is just w h y.

I don't want to be that guy, but...

Be careful with that.

I do suggest doing stretches and leaving the game alone for a few days to see if you recover from it.

I've been watching streams and playing a little less recently because I'm also in the middle of recovering from something similar.

Yeah please be careful, no tournament or game is worth doing major damage. That was why I quit, my left wrist got pretty messed up in 2012. If you don't have one already try getting a brace, it helped mine feel better.

So tomorrow morning I'm going to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I know for most people this isn't too big a deal but because of an underlying genetic condition, it's pretty risky for me. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly and there will be no issues but I wanted to give a heads up just in case something goes awry and the round is late tomorrow.
I do have everything uploaded already so it should be a non-issue, even if I can't release the round another staff member should be able (like AJ)

i've been rotating between heating pad and ice-pack, also just straight up not using the arm for the entire day and it's feeling a billion times better. but at the same time i'm probably still not gonna use it extensively for a good amount of time after it's feeling better. also been takin ibuprofen so that might be what's doing the relief for the most part.

i don't think i have a brace, nor am i sure what they look like or how to get them but iirc we have ACE bandage somewhere so then i really wouldn't be able to use the arm.

on an unrelated note, since i'm not gonna be able to use the arm for a bit i might as well make it look good so we're painting me nails; purple with pink glitter~ also neil cicierega is a trip.

also i hope the teeth thing resolves well! underlying conditions really do be a bitch all the time so hope no complications arise!

Suffered from CT, dont fuck with it

Also Kayla Good Luck on that dentist trip. Hope they're playing classic rock doing your stay. Appointments with country music is the worst.

Seriously let us know how it goes

Are you having difficulties with the roll ? If yes you could probably decrease the number of good in this section to 4/5 by doing double instead n_n otherwise was fun having you in OT

If it's the roll you're havin issues with, it seems slow enough that jumptrilling it isn't gonna be the best idea, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the ACTUAL jumptrill BEFORE the roll? At 310 notes in? If you hit the roll at the same speed as that jumptrill you SHOULD be able to get away with very few goods, if any.

If it's the "wafflestream" just before the roll, if you feel up to it I like to learn jumpstream one half at a time. So for example I'll isolate the section and then only hit the notes on my left hand, only hit the notes on my right hand, then eventually combine the two together to see if I can hit both hands at the same time. I don't know if this works for everyone but I'll put it here just in case. : P Because the jumpstream there is a bunch of offset one-handed trills so it'll feel really awkward but hopefully it comes together nicely!

Surgeon decided to only do one today to see how I do, still really numb at the moment but will update again later. Didn't sleep last night cause stress so will likely crash at some point.

I've always wondered how being totally numb feels, is it like pins and needles or just kinda... non-existent?

Everyone reacts to anesthetics differently but yeah for me it's just I can't feel anything. No pressure, nothing. It's an odd feeling and it went all the way up to my temple lol. It's slowly wearing off now to where I can feel some tingling in my lips. I didn't feel anything he did during though. and it took this dude no more than 30 seconds to pop the thing out too. Really good doc and super attentive to me being a special case, I'm really happy about that cause so many people dismiss my condition which can be deadly in dental procedures.
