the new star wars movie is fucking stupid

this is coming from someone who appreciated a lot of things about the last jedi

I made predictions of what would happen during the movie by asking myself "what is the stupidest/tackiest way this can end?" and had like a 75% winrate

I've only ever seen the first trilogy so I don't have any emotional stakes to it being good or bad, but I must confess seeing the hardcore fans try and defend this when like 90% of the hot takes are "it's hot garbage" is priceless

honestly it was fairly predictable throughout, but all of them are, so i didn't really mind. not saying it was good, but it wasn't a train wreck like whatever the hell the last jedi was supposed to be.

the only star wars movie i've liked out of the recent ones was rogue one. other than that, they're all pretty bad.

You know someone's a troll if they try to pretend that New Hope and Empire Strikes Back aren't good movies.

That's like objectively incorrect.

It is weird that the franchise became so huge off of 2 solid movies and basically a long string of disappoints though

well they did set it up so that they'd make some of the projected hypest ones first and coast off those. in that sense, it worked

i have the barest familiarity with the series and i tried to watch rogue one and thought it was dull

I wouldn't label myself as a Star Wars fan but I really liked it as a kid and still really like A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back --- those are legitimately some of the best-made movies of all time

but that's kind of why I "care" out the franchise... It once brought me and a lot of people immense joy and it's incredibly disheartening to see this monolith collapsing in real time because of corporate cynicism

Ok I did see Rogue One with my brother and I thought it was a fine little flick but apperently most people didn't like it.
