Oh snap D2 has a AAA
I thought we where gonna be safe from those kinds of scores but I guess that was wrong. Pressure's on now |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
I'm just watching anxiously as my name gets pushed closer and closer to the yellow...
|
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Alright D3-5 let's step it up, everyone else is getting AAAs except us.
|
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Dear D4,
I kinda don't want to play this file again... So if you could stop pushing me further down in the standings that would be great. :) ♥Kaw |

I don't think I am gonna do any better then a FC on Insignia.
Although we have alot of people who have yet to even submit a score, so I have a feeling I'll need to do better to secure a spot. |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
You're pretty high up, so I don't think you're in any danger for this round. Even if every person who hasn't submitted yet scores better than you, you'll still be well above the cutoff. At the very least, you probably won't have to worry about me :P

Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
So few AAAs...

Just want to make a note that inDheart has moved up to D3. I reached out and gave the option of the bump after seeing that the score obtained on the D3 file would have been top 12 and the bump was accepted.
Welcome to D3 inDheart! Really glad to see you were up for the challenge. |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
This song is DEFINITELY harder than Slashmaid and Schmollbluk.

Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
After some thought, I'd say the best solution is...
Combine Divisions 1-4. Combine Divisions 5-6. Leave Division 7 as it is. There! Now we have less divisions and people can still move up in ranks. It also supports the idea that moving up divisions gets exponentially harder. |

Welcome, inDheart! Welcome to your worst nightmare! No but really, congrats dude.
|
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
thanks folks! good luck to my friends in D2 as well!
although, if you're letting a song be your worst nightmare, might be a time to hang up the keyboard for a bit |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Congrats InDheart :-D good luck in D3. Can't wait to play this song but i'm still on holiday trip. I'll have about 36 hours to give it all i got XD
and you guys can be sure that i will :-P Also, where do i need to be to get an awesome OT banner :-P |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
my worst nightmares involve my gut being sliced open with a sickle and me trying to stuff my innards back into my body and squeeze flaps of skin together while i slowly lose consciousness in my dreamstate
actually nevermind those are pretty run of the mill |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Congrats inDheart :) Good luck in D3
Also, we no longer have an AAA, time to step up our game D2 :-P |

Only change I would make is make it D1-3, D4-6 and the 7. The gap between 3 and 4 is usually a good benchmark if you ask me. Also it's more even distribution that way :^) |

Don't tempt me, it would sure make my life a lot easier :p

Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
New idea for the 12th official tournament: NO eliminations. Then people won't bitch and moan because they suck at the round 1 file...there's time to catch up and get a file you're better at.
And maybe use victory points (scoring based on how many people whose scores you beat in a round) instead of cumulative raw score, a la Dossar's Brutality tournaments. |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Or swiss rounds with actual direct player pairings?
|
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Quote:
And knowing that FFR certainly can always use a boost to participation, they'd likely make it double elimination so that you'll have at least 1 more opportunity to play again. (Therefore again making the tournament longer, + grand finals bracket resets???) |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Swiss doesn't have eliminations, that's the point of swiss.
In fact, with the numbers for this official tournament, running it as Swiss would only be 6 rounds instead of 8, and nobody would be eliminated for the whole 6 rounds. |

Also, because Swiss awards points for draws, you don't even have to get bogged down in "what happens if both people AAA"

Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Division 1: 21 / 34 (61.76%)
Division 2: 41 / 52 (78.85%) Division 3: 44 / 51 (86.27%) Division 4: 44 / 50 (88%) Division 5: 62 / 82 (75.61%) Division 6: 44 / 51 (86.27%) Division 7: 37 / 41 (90.24%) Seeing these numbers, it is mindblowing that D1 is the smallest division; it truly depicts that the populace on FFR is rather skilled (majority of active players are between D3-D5) and people who complain about the difficulty of this tournament should be reminded of this fact: people are much better than the previous years, alarmingly fast too. |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
I think it's less that the average person is better, and more that only people who are good at the game are still actually playing it.
If you look at "newer" easy difficulty songs, they have as few as 2,000 people with scores logged, versus 600,000 for the very old easy songs. The average FFR player is better every year, because fewer and fewer below average players are staying. |

Well that and the rhythm game market is a LOT more saturated now than it ever was, and probably a lot of people who might have played/stayed here, who like rhythm games are playing them on their phone etc. |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
I'd be really curious to see what percentage of the 1.9 million users we have actually logged a score on an FFR song in the last say, six months. I would guess no more than 5000.
|
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Quote:
Without the OT, daily users online varies within 250-400 players, though who knows if they play or just view forums, etc. I would have to assume that a small fraction of the 1.9 mil is bot accounts, especially where the last few months they have spawned rapidly |
Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
I'd say between bots, and permabanned but not deleted accounts, it's more than a small percentage.
There's also a good possibility that the number up in the top right just increments whenever an account is created and isn't coded to also decrement if an account is deleted/removed/permabanned. |

Re: 11th Official Tournament - Round 1
Completely off topic but does anyone know if there's a smooth running standalone flash player working on windows 10 yet? I want to upgrade but not if it wrecks my standing in the official.

I just read up on this but if you wouldn't mind checking this before I upgrade it would be much appreciated. AJ says that using a direct link on chrome for any engine worked great and that he used flash player 21.

I've somehow gained the ability to AAA every song that I've actually tried to today except for the song that matters the most right now; Follow You lol.
Go Go Go Power Rangers, Etude to a Dragon, even Maelstrom (which actually unlocked St. Scarhand!), but Follow You is like "I'm going to give you repeated good bombs and that's as good as it's going to get." I refuse to surrender to the the good bombs! |

As much as I wanted to prove to myself that I could AAA carnival it looks like the booflag is gonna stay and haunt me forever. Put in another couple hours today and it just ain't happening. I have successfully gotten mindblocked on every part of the song that is faster than 8ths.

I'm kinda debating on dropping from the tournament. I mean I already have both top cut tokens and the only incentive for me would be top 3 which definitely won't happen as good as D5 is so yeah.
And before someone plays the credit prize card on me, credits mean nothing to me and all I do is gamble them. |
