IMPORTANT: The following people CHANGE THEIR PASSWORDS ASAP

Someone got a hash of a ton of people's passwords. Mine, and Mwerp's were too hard to crack because ours uses random letters and numbers.

The following people had their passwords cracked by this person:

Spazzbite, SpookG, Specforces, Jewpinthethird, Reach, and Kaze.

If you need proof, http://www.ddrei.com

If you are on this list, I advise you to change your password to a long (at least 10) password of random letters and numbers.

ASAP

[edit by said person]
List edited to be more relevent to this site. Everyone else involved has either already been notified by me (and others), or the password is no longer in use/trivial account.

My intent, in doing this, was not malicious. If it was, every major bemani site right now would be screwed up. I've learned my lesson. Things like this are bound to get way out of control (like in the case of DDRei). The lesson you all should take from this is make more secure passwords!!

Thanks.

I'm not on there. Lucky me :)
Specforces isn't here to change his

Mwerp 08-8-2004 06:04 PM

Case sensitivity helps, too.

Spec's password has been changed.

Yay for random number passwords. Just find something that is relatively long and you can type in under a second.

Draigun 08-8-2004 06:54 PM

I think the passwords up there are words that are in the database in the password cracking program..

Like, apple would most likely be recognized over whatthefuckisup3..

I could be wrong, though -_-

Squeek 08-8-2004 06:57 PM

Just for fun, I'll change mine. Even if I'm not on the list, it's pretty easy to guess.

I think I'll use a CD-key generator to change my pass. That's, what, 15 random letters and numbers?

evilbutterfly 08-8-2004 07:03 PM

But what if I get the burned CD of MoP's pw and use the crack =O

And what the hell is wrong if somebody gets my password? Oh no, they might make spam posts on my account. Big whoop. You all know who would and wouldn't post stupid crap, plus the IP would be different, so any stupid posts made would be ignored and/or deleted. Hence, screw changing my password. I have nothing worth hacking, so I don't mind getting hacked =\

You don't have to, you already know my current one and I'm too lazy to wait 5 minutes for my folder to open and use the cd-key crack.

Administrative accounts were broken into, and gave admin access to others, thats why.

Kilgamayan 08-8-2004 07:13 PM

Half that list is BMS staff.

Did you post this there?

lightdarkness 08-8-2004 07:16 PM

They have already taken over bms

Kilgamayan 08-8-2004 07:21 PM

You sure? The site looks fine to me and djp seems to be in control of himself. I haven't checked anyone else because it's been really slow.

Did it already happen and get fixed while I was out today? I don't see anything in Headlines about it.

Moogy 08-8-2004 07:23 PM

SeeingEyeCthulu: is he gonna do anything to bemanistyle
i sh0ot fiar: no

lightdarkness 08-8-2004 07:23 PM
