POUR THE SALT

yeah tbh that was just a test run to gauge how I should spread my hits throughout the file during a serious attempt, major luckmanias (why don't I ever have any luck when it comes to the actual fucking game though)

also the replay has one extra good instead of perfect resulting in -25 below the target I have no idea why

Because the program that does the replay actually is a bot that tries to match exactly what you did in a previous game rather than read the actual frames, note placement, and how they were hit.

also if anyone wants to trade 3 difficulty 1's for a difficulty 2 of mine that you'd like, I'm game. Same for trading 2 difficulty 2's for a difficulty 3 of mine, or two diff. 3's for a diff. 4

...
That said; I won't bother trying to get 54545 on DP, It was hard enough on a legitimate song lol.

Personally I maintain a pretty constant speed throughout the entire song. Misses and boos are things I let happen naturally so I don't have to worry about exact numbers of too many things at once. Mashing, I don't even think is necessary to a certain degree. I mean anyone below D5 will probably end up having to mash a couple of times, but it is not too hard to maintain sufficient health while only aiming for selective note patterns that are easily recognizeable. (these patterns are useful in gaining health without much attention to the actual chart. I can litterally play through this song without removing my eyes from my raw score at the bottom of the game.)

Assuming this was achieved on purpose, I would say you have a better chance at getting 54,545 on DP than you would to recreate this. I literally got within 30 points of 54,545 on DP so I'm guessing it would only take a little bit of practice, just like your replay probably took you quite a lot of practice. I've also had multiple other close scores too, it isn't completely chance, just like earning this on another song would not be pure chance.

I usually hit that megatrill with about 50-52k, any more than that and I risk failing out in an attempt not to bust 54,545.

The quad at the end can be anticipated. Supposing you miss all 4 of the notes you would have to be at 54,585 right before you miss them. The gap, though small, would be just the time you need to sync up your score with the objective score. Yeah, it would take a considerable amount of practice, and probably a bit of luck, it's possible and I'm still going to try and get it.

Impressive OWA, I salute you. Super sorry but because I don't have any experience with the replay system and why it would gain or lose a single good I can't accept it for the achievement I submitted. Also having problems with timestamps in your screenshot, as it is most definitely not the 16th of February yet. Good luck for another attempt however!

Re: FFR Trading Card Game (C5)

lmao

I have no idea what's up with server times on R3 screenshots, they've always been around 5 hours ahead for me (check other screenshots in the thread, they're dated as the 16th as well)

As for the replay, it's not the first time I've seen a replay off by a good or so compared to what was actually scored, but it doesn't matter I wasn't doing it for creds anyways, just to make rushy mad (fully admitting it was a dumb lucky first shot)

edit: oh ty TSR

Valrog 02-15-2015 08:26 PM

Re: FFR Trading Card Game (C5)

In-game seems to be showing Western European Time... I'm not sure why but the replay saved at an accurate server time so it seems to match up. Also, like I said I am not very experienced with the replay system, nor it having any issues. GG with DP though.

P.S. OWA to be honest Rushy's replay of ReRicked is still much cooler if legit. :P

Quick question: I got a new highest AAA when going for this challenge, will that score be accepted or not, and will I have to adjust my scores to that AAA accordingly? (for example, my old highest AAA was an 82, I have now AAA'd an 83, will scores on 82's still be accepted?)

So I was bored today and looked back on Valrog's previous posts, mostly because I was interested in how the cards would be assembled/turn out in a physical setting, but nothing else was posted besides some bare templates. So I stole the templates, cropped them out of the screenshot, and started making some edits to them, threw them into a giant resource template, and all that good stuff.

also yes I just noticed the template for the Shiny overlay is different from the one used on the other cards xd still working on stuff

Nice, nice! I'm really glad I'm not the only one workin' on this. I like the different colors too, could be different colors for different rarity levels? Silver foil for r8-r10, and gold foil for r11 are also interesting ideas. Also anyone who is not working on any actual design ideas but would like to contribute post in the thread. Ideas are much appreciated, especially from the people that would be interested in the physical cards!

P.S. are you using photoshop/illustrator/gimp/etc.? Wondering what would be the best format to work on these.

gold stinger 02-19-2015 07:33 PM

Re: FFR Trading Card Game (C5)

I'm using Photoshop CS5, I know it's an oldie and I should be using a later version of Photoshop, but they switch the user interface around every time and I'm more comfortable with CS5, since it's what I grew up learning.

I was thinking the color would be a better suit for card effect in the sense, but I could comprehend it being used for rarity as well. I took some time to make some foil versions as well so for some reason TCG people start distributing different versions of cards, it's there.

At the bottom of the template (trophy, FFR dude, etc.) I was thinking about what I said earlier with different versions of cards, (so 1st edition, tournament edition, event edition, etc.) and was thinking of like different colored arrows as the cost for playing a certain card, which would go in the convenient location in the top-left corner of the card.

So for an example: this is Death Piano (an 11-rare card) in a foil sleeve, full res, transparent, arrow cost, effect, and no image.

Regarding the card designs, here is/are my idea(s) for foil colors:

Platinum/custom picture foil: Rarity 10 and Rarity 11 Cards
Gold foil: Rarity 9 Cards
Silver foil: Rarity 8 Cards
Bronze foil: Rarity 7 Cards
Cerulean non-foil: Rarity 6 Cards
Violet non-foil: Rarity 4 and Rarity 5 Cards
Pink non-foil: Rarity 1, Rarity 2, and Rarity 3 Cards

gold stinger 02-19-2015 07:43 PM

Re: FFR Trading Card Game (C5)

Fun-Fact: You can't really tell the difference between a foil and a non-foil on the computer. It's impossible to produce the effect unless you're using some sort of 3D gimmick to view it. A good majority of real foil cards copied & shown on the internet at most will produce scan lines over the intended areas that would cause a foil effect.

I was thinking the color would be a better suit for card effect in the sense, but I could comprehend it being used for rarity as well. I took some time to make some foil versions At the bottom of the template (trophy, FFR dude, etc.) I was thinking about what I said earlier with different versions of cards, (so 1st edition, tournament edition, event edition, etc.) and was thinking of like different colored arrows as the cost for playing a certain card, which would go in the convenient location in the top-left corner of the card.

So for an example: this is Death Piano (an 11-rare card) in a foil sleeve, full res, transparent, arrow cost, effect, and no image.

I would love it if the card game was eventually playable, but that would be quite a task, not only to design the game mechanics, but to create a platform it could be played on as well.

Looks good though

To be completely honest here, unless this gets super official and gets rolling and rolling, I don't see these cards becoming much more than a collectors item. Somewhat similar to the bronze tokens that were released a while back. Not saying I wouldn't love it supposing it were to go big.

You could create the mechanics on LackeyCCG and use their engine as a platform (it also supports online use) but the small problem with that is people will be able to use any number of cards that are available at any given moment rather than limiting themselves to what cards they actually have.

Looking at selling cards to other players though, I think that'll will be coming soon

But yeah, I need a break from this for a while, so basically do whatever with my cards, haha

This was fun so far, can't wait to see it when it's more refined

Bye ^^

Thinking more about the card game, you could call the draw phase 'Song Browse', the Main Phase 'Song Select', which forces your opponent to play that song and watch them play it. 'Song Results' is damage calculation based off of your opponent's score, and your life in the card game being how much non-perfects you can get. Literally just brainstorming at this point in time.

This would also open up to Tiers of cards that you can use, and could allow for scaling in matches (say a D2 player trying to go against a D6 player, a D6 player using a D2 deck, and a D2 player using a D6 deck). Hell, that cost for a card to be used that I mentioned earlier could instead be used to point out the division of that card in a deck.
