Finally. Someone who has submitted a score in D1 is at risk of getting eliminated. Time for an actual competition.

Only a couple of days in but there are some interesting cut off points to get through to the next round at the moment. (Its worth noting that each division has about a 85% submission rate currently, and these will most likely change over the next few days)

D1: 83-6-20-24
D2: 5-0-0-0
D3: 13-0-0-0
D4: 10-1-1-0
D5: 3-1-0-3 (Currently 52 would go through, how 3 people are tying on this score I don't know)
D6: 13-0-0-0 (Currently 37 would go through, instead of 36)
D7: 1-0-0-0 (Could be AAA or die by the end of the round)

D2, D5, and D7 as usual with the insane cutoffs haha

By the way it's one at 3-1-0-3 and two at a more reasonable 5-0-0-2 lol

ItsOnlyDanO 10-11-2014 12:15 PM

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

wow I didn't even notice the D5 one
Still weird 3-way tying on yodeler with that score though, there are not that many places to pick up boos (other that perhaps the 12th section and possibly the ending 32ds)

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

I had 1-0-0-2 up til the very last purple section of the song.... My nerves and my body shook like it was going into a seizure ....

This is a bit ridiculous, I don't know if I can keep calm while playing this song :/ It says I've played the song 63 times so far, but if you add in all the restarts, it's over 225 times (kept track).... ugh

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

Yeah, can't do this song anymore. It's driving me absolutely up the wall. I will never play this song again after this round is over. Simply put, top 5 on my least favorite files. I can do this song very easily, but it depends on the engine and if it wants to continuously give me random goods, or dependent on my keyboard which I have no other one, so it's whatever.

Good luck D6, I can't give anymore time to this crap.

Chill out krunky, you're good enough to make it to the next round for sure. Just don't touch the song for a couple days.

You have until Wednesday night. Don't give up

Not as easy as it sounds actually. I thought it would work too, the first 2 trills were fine but then its good galore with no sound on XD So, im forced to play with sound heh

krunky, how close are you looking to the receptors relative to the scrolling arrows? One tends to be more accurate when you actually look at where the arrows meet as opposed to mentally assuming where the arrows will be from the song's rhythm.

Hi.

ROUND 1 Stories Can Wait (Virtual Riot Remix) {0-0-0-1}
ROUND 2 summerghost {1-0-0-0}
ROUND 3 Requiem -Dies irae- {2-0-0-2}
ROUND 4 HAELEQUIN {0-0-0-1)
ROUND 5 Shatterscape (Bexarametric Remix) {AAA}
TIEBREAKER The Party's Starting! {20-1-0-3}
ROUND 6 Sokuseki! Nouchoku Music System {1-0-0-1}
ROUND 7 Umbral Ultimatum {20-0-1-11} (ELIMINATED)

My D5 rounds from the last official XD

Although this was mostly due to being rusty (and boos) and not innability... I really don't play ffr/stepmania unless there's a tourney lol

My reading vision is smack dab in the center of the screen

EDIT: And I can't fo rthe life of me follow the arrows to where they meet lol it feels so weird

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

heh maybe thats where we are going wrong Krunky, i look smack dab in the middle of the screen as well :O

Dynam0 10-11-2014 05:30 PM

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

You're both reading properly, looking directly at the receptors is something you'd do if you're trying to read an incredibly slow scroll speed. Timing comes with playing more, it seems like you're just mind-blocked Krunky, try taking a break and get back at it on Monday/Tuesday or something lol

bmah 10-11-2014 05:36 PM

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

You don't look directly at the receptors, just close to it (just below it) - and a change of scrolling speed may help as well. But sometimes that helps if you really want to investigate why you get random goods. What you see is what you're hitting. If you look in the middle of the screen all the time, then "what you see is what you might be hitting". That sort of spacial difference can reduce interpretive accuracy, and when timing comes down to a matter of frames, that can make a difference.

edit: sometimes I might direct my eyes more left or right of the screen depending on where the arrow patterns go. If there are a lot of up and right arrows for instance, I'll be observing that side of the screen more closely for the time being.

All in all, that sort of active observation might help you, krunky.

Dude, you've got loads of time, just try and reduce the amount of boos you've and you'll probably reduce goods as well - keep playing throughout the week =3

This is a good snippet imo. I find focusing on strictly one side during a trouble pattern (even ignoring the side I have a block on) helps me overcome that block. Unfortunately it doesn't help with one hand trills (goddamn Shotgun Surgery rip) but it's helped me on a number of files.

SK8R43 10-11-2014 08:57 PM

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

lol yeah it sure seems that way Krunky.
But yeah, i might try looking at the middle like usual for the whole file minus the trill section and try to look a bit closer to the receptors so i can see exactly what im hitting better. I swear, im O.K. at trills but if i dont get lucky i dump 3-4 goods on just one of them haha

I've officially figured out what causes me to hate this file so much.

Play D6s Round Song, and when you get to the 1040-1059 combo mark, listen intently to the song and also follow the steps... it goes from stepping the melody to stepping the background drums. That right there, no matter how many times I attempt this song, throws my mind into a sh*tstorm LOL

Also, Hi19, I don't hate the chart lol it's stepped pretty damn good imho.

LOL I do that all the time in my files, I usually step melody with drums layered in then only the drums during fills (this describes like, 99% of my S.S.H. files for example)
But in songs like Capoeira if the melody is complicated enough I don't layer the drums, so it can be jarring going from only melody to only drums during the fills.

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament

For those of you having issues with the back 25% of Capoeira where the percussion starts dominating with really funky rhythms/patterns, take the time to view the chart at a slightly lower speedmod and figure out how your hands should be moving -- slow the song down if you have to. It'll make a lot more sense if you take the time to figure out how your hands should be moving for that section if you can't piece it together by ear.

I'm done. I'm mindblocked on every single arrow of Rat Twist by this point and I can't even AAA the first 150 notes, which have patterns I could easily do if I hadn't just played them 100 times. And mirror isn't an option, because I can't hit the 24th jump burst if mirror is on.

So GG Chaos, you win Round 2. :(
