Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Flash gaming competitions used to be pretty awesome on this site with the likes of Rubix's Omnipwn tournaments and Rushy's carnivals, but there have been few to none lately. Thus, I have decided to open the Flash Gaming Challenge!
Format: There are 7 "tiers" of achievements from games, ranging from easy to nearly impossible. Each achievement will be worth a set amount of points at the start. Once someone completes an achievement, that point amount will degrade by 10% (ex. someone completing a 100-point achievement makes it a 90-point achievement for following players, then 81-point after another completion, etc.) (And yes, this was adapted from Rubix's Omnipwn.) Once a player gains enough points, they will unlock the next tier, which will contain harder achievements worth more points. Achievements will have minimum point values to prevent locking players out of the next tier. You will not know what the achievements of a Tier is until you unlock it. This means that speed is key--if you complete five Tier One achievements before anyone else, you will gain access to Tier Two, but if you wait until every Tier One achievement is at its minimum point value, you must complete ALL Tier One achievements in order to gain access to Tier Two. Rules: 1. Because Tiers are kept in the dark of players who have not unlocked them, ALL ACHIEVEMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN PM. If a Tier Two or above screenshot is submitted in the thread, it will not be accepted and the submitting player will instantly get a permanent score of ZERO on that achievement! 2. There are no signups. You join by submitting a completed achievement. 3. All achievements must be submitted in the form of a screenshot. 4. If ANYONE is found to be cheating (i.e. asking for upper tiers from higher-scored players) they will be disqualified from earning ANY prizes! 5. You MAY complete lower-ranked achievements when on a higher-ranked tier (i.e. Tier One achievements may be completed by a player who has unlocked Tier Two). Completing achievements from lower-ranked tiers WILL still earn you points. 6. Submitting a Kongregate badge or an ArmorGames quest you unlocked three years ago is NOT a valid screenshot. If you have completed the achievement in the past, you must do so again. The Challenge will not end until someone has completed Tier Seven. It will also NOT end immediately after the first player completes Tier Seven. Prizes: Prizes are as follows: 100,000 credits for 1st place overall 50,000 credits for 2nd place overall 35,000 credits for 3rd place overall 25,000 credits for 4th place overall 20,000 credits for 5th place overall 1,000 credits for the first 6 players to complete Tier One 2,000 credits for the first 5 players to complete Tier Two 3,000 credits for the first 4 players to complete Tier Three 4,000 credits for the first 3 players to complete Tier Four 5,000 credits for the first 2 players to complete Tier Five 10,000 credits for the first player to complete Tier Six 10,000 credits for the first player to complete Tier Seven Current credit pot: 300,000 credits I will be accepting donations. All donations should be sent to this account, Guest15937. Current donations: Guest15937: 300,000 Overall prizes will be distributed at the end of the challenge. Tier completion prizes will be distributed when all players that can win a prize for a tier have completed that tier (i.e. when 6 players complete Tier One.) So, without further ado... Tier One Collect 45 lightning bolts in Jelly Escape (Current value: 50) Create a 20,000 micrometer chain in Axon (Current value: 50) Defeat the first boss without using a bomb in Reactance 2 (Current value: 50) Score at least 300,000 in Pixel Purge (Current value: 50) Collect 10 medals in Adventure Story (Current value: 59) Reach Day 8 in Trigger Knight (Current value: 50) Complete the course in Wonderputt (Current value: 50) Destroy the rocky hill in Learn to Fly 2 (Current value: 50) Complete the 5th mission in Kingdom Rush (Current value: 53) Reach wizard level 10 in GemCraft Labyrinth (Current value: 66) Tier Two unlock requirement: 500 points Minimum value of each achievement: 50 points Standings: 1. awein999-1,009,154 points (All Clear) 2. MaistlinRajere-5570 points (Tier Five) 3. Rushy-3034 points (Tier Three) 4. JohnRedWolf87-2460 points (Tier Three) 5. jgano-1150 points (Tier Two) 6. Viisbyxa-975 points (Tier Two) 7. aturtledoesbite-710 points (Tier Two) 8. PaperclipGames-650 points (Tier Two) 9. 10. (more will be added if more submit) Happy gaming! |

Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
I don't think I'm going to participate because I don't like time-based challenges like this and I want to spend my time on other things, but I have a question: for things like collecting a certain number of medals or reaching a certain level, what kind of proof are you looking for? I could just submit a screenshot of my existing save with a current timestamp, and someone else could delete their save, get the requirement, and submit it, and the screenshots would look the same.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Starting with GemCraft Labyrinth. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Eh, might as well, since I've played all these games before anyway :P. And I <3 flash games.
Edit: for a game like Pixel Purge, having all the upgrades already gives me a bit of an advantage, would you want me to clear the save in that case too? Trigger Knight doesn't show your day at the end. I can replay if you want, but maybe my score is high enough to prove I was over the requirement. Edit: I can has remember rules Will do some more later I guess once you reply to questions. Probably won't feel like doing ones that require clearing saves if they don't have more than one save slot though, too lazy to back up save etc. etc. |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
This sounds sweet. I'm gonna check a couple of these games out and submitting some scores. 8-)
Question: What is the "minimum value" of these achievements? 10? This isn't specified. On an unrelated note, I've already completed four of these, a few more are probably on their way. |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
The minimum value of each (Tier One) achievement is 50.
Updated. I will be updating this as often as I can because of the speed-based nature of this challenge. Viisbyxa is the first player to reach Tier Two! To those of you who sent me five completed challenges, but are not Tier Two, just one more to go! As far as save games go, deleting save game files is not necessary. You may do stuff like re-do the 5th level of Kingdom Rush. I just didn't want players submitting a load of achievements without even playing any of the games. |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
I think I'm gonna try this out.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
PaperclipGames is the second player to unlock Tier Two! Only 4 more 1,000 credit prizes remain!
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
gg just submitted all tier 1 challenges

I'll give some of the remaining challenges and T2 a shot tomorrow or something, I'm not really feeling like playing random games anymore, lol.

Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Oh, God.. if this is Tier 2 I'd hate to see Tier 7
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Quote:
Guest, what are your guidelines for how much we should play a game to get an achievement? A light example is the third game in Tier Two, where I can start the game well past the requirement -- I think I'll start at the beginning to make it fair, but others might not. A more important example is the first game -- how much of that do you want me to re-earn, and how do you want me to prove I did so? (Posting here without specifics so others can see the answers to the questions.) I mean, my main concern is that without deleting save files, anyone who has already played these games (e.g. me) has a large advantage over anyone who hasn't (even not considering prior experience with the game). |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
All the save file stuff is evened out in the later tiers. After Tier Four there are NO games where prior play should have much of a benefit, and only a couple in Four. So just play as if you were re-earning a badge on Kongregate that you earned before the badge existed. (I just don't wan't people submitting old badges as achievements.)

|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge

|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Just want to say that I'm loving this contest so far. It's pretty fun, and it's introduced me to some of the variety of games on Kongregate. I might want to play some of these games to completion and check out other games on the site after this is over. :)
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Update: awein999 is the first person to unlock Tier Four!
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge

Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
...And awein999 is the first to unlock Tier Five! (Hurry up, everyone!)
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
So. I'm not sure if I should join this. On one hand, I've got nothing better to do. On the other hand, awein.
;_; |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Don't let the presence of a front runner discourage you from having fun and playing games :)
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Except literally zero of the T1 games are what I'd call 'fun'. ...Okay, I halfway-lied, there's Reactance 2, but that task stops before the game gets fun. I can only hope the future tiers are better.
also awein playing flash games gives you cancer you should stop before your eyes explode or something yep you should do that |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
so like

Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge

Woo woo. Waiting for tier three.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Update: Awein999 has completed Tier Seven! Time to enter the ending sequence:
A 7-day counter has started. At the end of this counter, the challenge ends. For every point earned by anyone from this point on, the end of the challenge is delayed by one minute. An additional point will be required per minute if one of the following things happen: -Twelve hours pass without any points earned -Three days pass -Someone completes Tier Seven The point standings at the end will determine the prizes, so competitors must hurry up more than ever! This is your last chance to submit any achievements! Time remaining:132:53:00 Current End Time/Date: 12:46 PM server time, 5/9/13 5 points required per additional minute |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
um. Yeah I'm completely screwed.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Just to mention, I find it ironic that the "last chance" period lasts longer than the rest of the competition has so far.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Yeah, that only happened because awein is a beast.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
haha what the fuck
awein trolled this thread so hard just what |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge

Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
You guys have a silly way of doing competitions. Why do I say this? Well...
1) Due to the format, the winners - invariably - will be those who have no life outside of the internet. Yes, the phenomenon known as "real life" does indeed exist, and is quite common, actually. (Also the people with faster internet connections have an advantage.) 2) There is no pacing to the competition. That leads to five-second-frenzies like this thing. 3) If you're worried about people loading save games, then use games that don't have save-based scores, such as some kind of arcade mode, or the whole game itself if it lends itself to that. Don't tell me you can't find any. If you couldn't, then Kong's tourney sector would be dead. Basically, what I'm saying is that the whole thing's kind of skewed toward a particular player type. I mean, I guess that, considering where this forum is, being able to stay at your computer for hours and hours on end is an expectancy, so maybe this works out better for you guys. (After all, I can't imagine many of you take breaks while practicing for an AAA.) ...Eh, I don't have a solid ending point here. So I'll just paste a TTGL quote that has nothing to do with this. Y'know, in addition to the quote wall that is my sig. :P "If you're gonna dig, dig to the heavens. No matter what's in my way, I won't stop! Once I've dug through - it means that I've won!" - Simon, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
u just jelly. either play or don't it's that simple. someone hosted a free tourney. stop complaining.
"no life outside of the internet"? dude even if that was true you don't say shit like that to ppl. ![]() |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
awein is my hero <3
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
lol turtle.. nice
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
12 hours passed between submissions-points per minute have been advanced one stage.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Another 12 hours have passed between submissions-points per minute has advanced one stage. (The 2nd-5th and completion prizes for tiers 2-5 are still up for grabs!)
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Did everyone fall asleep, or was everyone scared off by awein, or both?
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
pretty much
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
I'd submit more if I had more to do :P
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
This is pretty dead, if no one submits by tomorrow I'm ending it here.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Yeah, this was at a bad time for me, busy with school and stuff.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Sorry. :( It was fun at first, but I think I burnt myself out by playing too much at once. lol. Though I still want to check out what's all on Kongregate after my "burn-out" phase ends.
After the contest is over, could you post all of the tier challenges, so that we could see what they were? |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Too bad with the loss of interest. Nice idea to try this though.
|
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Contest is (long since) dead, I'll give out prizes soon.
Prize list (minus the 1k prizes I already gave out): awein999: 134,000 credits MaistlinRajere: 59,000 credits Rushy: 32,000 credits JohnRedWolf87: 27,000 credits jgano: 20,000 credits As for the other tiers, they were: In case anyone was wondering, I do NOT plan to do another one of these anytime soon, partly because I don't have the credits to do this and keep all the secret songs anymore, and partly because I'm too lazy to come up with new games/achievements. |
Re: Guest15937's Flash Gaming Challenge
Prizes sent.
