IS God A Fraud?

Is god real or not? post your views here about God, but please don't belittle others beliefs. Thank you. I Believe that god is a fraud, he is not real and the bible shows me that.

ananana 07-9-2004 10:58 AM

This would be better off in Critical Thinking =\

How does the bible show that he is not real?

1. This should've been posted in critical thinking.
2. some people may find this thread EXTREMELY offensive.
3. Read the rules, and the ones in critical thinking too.

god is a fraud

i dont think it would be offense i specifically asked people not to belittle anyones religious beliefs, this is just a discussion about it. and ananana, the bible is gods word, and god is perfect in every single way, so if there is a lie, or contradiction ( pretty much if god lied) in the bible, that proves god isnt real.

ImEric12 07-9-2004 11:11 AM

Yeah, this isn't really belittling anyones religion, it's personal beleif. If beleiveing that God is a fraud offends christians, than woudln't Christians beleiving God is real offend Atheists? Yeah.

Anyway, I'm personally agnostic, so I'm fairly neutral on the subject. I don't beleive that he exists specifically, but I don't specifically beleive he doesn't exist.

That doesn't prove that God is not real.
And if God is real and perfect, he will not let errors happen in something so precious as the bible.

fraudy

my friend is agnostic, so i understand what ur saying. thank you for pointing out the belittling part for me, you explained it perfectly.

Better suited in CT.

hmm, glitch, it's not letting me move this.*edit

If there are contradictions within the Bible, you have to remember, Mankind has re-written it many times, and that leaves room for many alterations.

I believe God is real.

ToshX 07-9-2004 11:58 AM

If god lies, its for a reason, he doesn't just lie to benefit himself. I believe he is real, but he doesnt do anything but watch over us to make sure were doing stuff right. If we do something wrong, like stealing, he gives us a bad feeling, better known as guilt.

Dronak 07-9-2004 12:11 PM

Basically, yes, I think there has to be some higher power if for no other reason than I belive there's a "why" behind the universe's creation and not simply a "how".

RobbyZero 07-9-2004 01:06 PM

No proof he exists. Only crazy people think he exists. ;)

Leo from 70's show once said something similar.. "I met God on the bus one time coming home,he gave me a pretzel"

I'm an atheist, you wanna know why?

Could God nuke a burrito in a microwave so hot that he himself could not eat it?

If he can, he can't eat it, making him not perfect.
If he can't, he can't do everything, making him not perfect.

Thus making the bible a lie.

Yeah...I cant move the topic either....uhg.

Anyways...I am agnostic. I dont believe in a "god." And science is more fun anyways. But you know, I may be totally wrong...and I am willing to accept that, if there is any proof that god exists.

Wow, what a lame excuse. God can do things far beyond our comprehension. Also, God can't contradict himself, as He is independent of time, so when he only says things once, and they hold for the past, present, and future. In order to contradict, you have to go against something that you said before. I used to be atheist, agnostic, and anything in between, but I came to my senses.

Ha! Moved it. For a second I thought God was f--king with us. Sucker, I showed him/her/it.

I think that it is wrong to even attempt to personify God, as so many of the major religions do. God, to me, is just another word for the explanation of why everything is the way it is. Science attempts to describe God.

So do I believe in God? Well, I believe that there is an explanation for everything, and that explanation might as well be named God, mightn't it?

But do I think there is some sort of conscious being somewhere actively affecting the Universe? It's always a possibility, but my money is on something else.
