CBR's Training Diary

Yo guys.
Back with another thread already but this one FFR-based.
Seeing as I am competing in the current official tournament and I am D5 I thought it would be cool to post some scores here and take questions / requests that might help me AND you guys do better ;)

So during the duration of the tourney check for scores here and don't be shy to ask / comment / suggest anything. OP will be where updates go.

Round 1 D5 song:

Broken JS file. Took 7 tries, I believe because I am terrible at JS. Try to hit all the streams 1 frame early so you still slip into the perfect frame if you fall behind. Nothing really "tricky" here, just remain consistent. Once you get past the climax (1/2 to 3/4th of the file) take a breather and remain focused... the AAA is yours.

Currently Training on:

Ah Trisection V2.
What does this file not have that's excellent to learn?
Poly-rhythms, 24ths with Jumps in them, 16ths short running men, 16th Jumpjacks and 24th triplets with one-handed bias (left + right).
I'd recommend this for the D5 crowd and even D6, judging by the sheer variety of skills it trains and asks for --
remember the hitting the jumps and streams 1-frame early trick?
It's a very important skill to learn and is definitively tested by this file.
You COULD train on isolated wristjacking files or some faster stream files to pick-up a few skills tested by this file but mostly just play it.
It's fun in my eyes and it teaches you skills that if not needed in the next round, will definitively be needed in your FFR careers!

Re: CBR's Training Diary

the midsection of Euromorroc is probably the hardest part

rest of the file isn't too bad

Re: CBR's Training Diary

So FFR is a criminal mastermind.
When I decided to play Bloodmeat, inspired by dore's recent Protest the Hero chart,
at the trill the game seemed to pause and a shape akin to what I could only describe as the FFR Guy,
stepped out of my monitor and held what felt like a gun to my head.
He asked me in his sonorous yet frightening voice:
"What will it be, kid? All perfects and a miss? Or do you like perfects and a boo... or even no boos, but a good.
Make up your mind before I actually have to use this device.... I don't like cleaning up."
"Th-The boos, sir", I stuttered as the game resumed.
I had successfully hit the trill with boos.
Now as the FFR Guy promised I succeded to AAA the file... just with the boos from the trill and one from later in the file.
After the I reached the score screen all I heard was a faint laugh which I could not pinpoint and a voice whispering in my ear:
"Better luck next time, baddie."
I am still in shock... something is foul with this game and I need to get to the bottom of it, before more incidents occur.

tl;dr for the illiterate youth: lol triplebooflag get

Re: CBR's Training Diary

Heed the next excerpt as a story of warning. There is something foul at FFR, and it must be stopped:
Following what I told you guys about the Bloodmeat incident,
I decided to practice some more files for the current tournament.
I had selected my song and the loading bar progressed as usual,
but oddly, this time, it got stuck at 97%.
Intrigued and annoyed I just restarted client and picked the same song.
97% again.
By this point I had become upset, and decided the best course of action was to form a bug report thread in the forums,
when suddenly my client went completely black.
I thought to myself that this is indeed some odd shit and went to the forums to file my complaint.
Oddly enough, it was not just the game that went black, but also my vision.
It seems I had blacked out.

When I regained consciousness, I was still unable to see, and also I was unable to speak due to most likely having been gagged.
My limbs also felt completely useless...
Someone must have bound me to render me absolutely defenseless.
"Welcome, CBR."
the familiar sonorous voice from earlier uttered.
"How kind of you to join us!"
I had violent thoughts of how I was going to free myself and kick this pigs' face in, but realized I was in no position to do so.
"Now, now. Why are having such an ugly grimace? Smile, my friend. We are just under old acquaintances here!"
Give me just a tiny bit, buddy. I prepared a special treat for you."
he snickered as I heard his footsteps echo outside the room.

After what felt ages he returned to the room.
"So. This little needle of mine might sting a little, tiny bit, but like the doctors say, it's good for you. Hahaha."
The maniac was not bluffing,
he had a syringe in his hand whose needle just now penetrated my right wrist.
The pain was immense and sent a electrifying sensation throughout my body.
"Ah, you are doing well, CBR. Now let's just do your left wrist and you are good to go!"
As indeed he had claimed, he now pumped the serum into my left wrist, but the pain had already subsided.
I felt at peace even though my life was in his hands.
With his deed completed, he un-gagged me and asked me if I had anything to say to him.
"What did you filthy swine do to me? Who are you and what do you even wish to accomplish with this? DON'T THINK I WILL LET YOU GET AWAY WITH THIS."
"Oh my, why are you so upset?
I just injected you with some DNA of mine so I can be part of you wherever you may be. Haha... but it comes with it's advantages:
You will be faster and more consistent than ever before at any rhythm game, including your beloved FFR. Now do me a favor, my friend:
Once you return home, play the file "JULIAN" and show the world your new powers...
OUR new powers."
I decided to hurl the best insults at him before I was re-gagged and I felt again that my vision was fading away.

Minutes after the encounter I appeared again in front of my computer at home.
Nothing was changed.
My parents oblivious to my departure.
The only item that was changed in my room was the client who was now on JULIAN, the file that the figure told me to play.
Afraid of repercussion, I played as instructed.
My speed, my PA and everything felt changed.
I AAA'd it on my first run.
Flabbergasted by my new ability, I decided to share the results to you,
the reader, who might be able to shed light onto this whole story.

At the time of this post I can hear a faint voice again telling me to keep playing and never stop.
I fear I have to live with this voice until the end of the tournament until the owner of the voice obtains what they wish... or I fail.
Which I dare not think of considering the sheer mystery and already revealed powers of the "FFR Guy".

Ah, fixed...
I apologize. I am still recovering from what just occurred to me.
The last few hours have been naught but a blur and I hope my account of the past few events show you this.

Only one thing is for certain... with my new-found power come drawbacks that never existed before.
Only once I master it, can I truly go beyond.

That, and comboscoring.
