A Challenge for MrRubix

Back in 2010 you made a custom files thread. As you know, there are multiple sites with custom files. I know you have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (the photos you've posted), but after all this time a few songs wouldn't hurt.

You've been considered the best player ever on FFR. I'm interested to see how you'd do on any of the following files now. You should decide which to play depending on how hard they are on pushing your hands:

Indeed Engine
- snow05 [Heavy] x1.5
- Speedcore 300 (qqwref)
- Unreal Superhero 2
Link to the engine:

Direct swf - http://indeedengine.com/indeed_engine.swf

Tournament Engine
- One More Lovely [Oni]
- Fury of the Storm [Heavy]
- Tandava
- Dossar Dubstep
- PARANOiA Survivor
- Legendary Etude
Link to the engine:

Like I said, I know you have CTS, but after all this time a few songs wouldn't hurt.

Obviously if a file listed is a little too much, it's better to choose something else from the list. It's never a good idea to stress that much on the hands, so I'm giving you the liberty to decide what to play

Another thing I should note: These aren't even the hardest files on the engines or anything, I thought they'd be reasonable compared to what's been played in my previous tournaments.

Actually my hands have gotten a lot better since I've retired. Same reason I quit cubing. After a certain point, having hands that shake mad Parkinson's when you hold them out straight is a pretty clear sign that you need to stop playing. Have to quit sometime!

Mfw you ask someone with CTS to play FFR.

I occasionally have slight uncontrollable twitching of the fingers when I hold them out straight. Probably a good sign that should lay off of the SM for a while.

I know jackshit about this, but a couple of my parents friends (who had CTS caused by physically demanding jobs) talked about getting Endoscopic Release surgery instead of Open Carpal Tunnel. Are you aware of the difference?

Yeah, they are just different approaches to the surgery. I decided not to get either one. It was much, much easier (and cheaper) to just stop playing crazy shit and take breaks more often.

Endoscopic release involves a smaller incision and usually a much quicker recovery time. Open release involves, well, opening shit up and handling things that way. Open release tends to be the norm because it's much easier to operate that way/correctly fix the median nerves and ligaments/remove any ****ed up tissue with the greater visualization (less chance of complication), but it takes a lot longer to heal.

Mine still do but not nearly as much; but yes, a good sign to cut back.

Speedcore 300: Nice gallops there. Why do they look so familiar? The only difference is that mine never where 64ths...

Re: A Challenge for MrRubix

It's sorta selfish to actually ask Marcus to play hard songs when you KNOW he has severe CTS

Staiain: Not the point. And I'm certainly not going into any more details.

What is the point then?

64th gallops are jumps on FFR; 16th gallops are not. It's actually pretty different to actually hit. As similar as the patterns there might be, I didn't copy anything from your chart - my intent with that part of the file was to have jumps with some emphasis to make it feel like they weren't JUST jumps.

Of course, when converting 300bpm patterns, everything rounds to the 24th, so if your converter does a good job you can pretty much predict how certain things will look, and play with the colors a lot without making awful framers.

Re: A Challenge for MrRubix

I like the idea of making the gallops 64ths...
But what gets me is that the rest of the chart is.... Hilarious I guess is the nice way to put it.

Anyways.

The reasoning for the gallops was to give it a more difficult approach while getting rid of the 0 framers that where originally there. But the point was still to make you somewhat gallop it. (To me it's the same as grace noting or flaming (maybe wrong term) the piano.) The reason for the notes in the first place is that you were accounting for the buzzer, but the way you did it just makes it look like a gallop and not actually a gallop which kills the purpose of doing it in the first place. Why not just jump it?

Also: lol those 32nds weren't as bad to jump trill as I thought they'd be.

I'm just curious. The reason that I pointed out that the gallop idea looked familiar is that I can't recall a single person liking the idea to use the gallops.

Dossar I know you claim you're asexual
I challenge you to **** all bitches, because after all this time a few times wouldn't hurt.

No seriously, it's a dumb idea to make someone who has CTS ruin their hands even more.
