Just came back from a trip to Amsterdam, visited Silverstone and played on their dedicabs! What a treat, being only the second time I've ever touched one. Although what a shame I've barely played in 2 years so I'm much worse than I used to be XD

Most of the day was spent replaying songs I enjoy from the past as I only had a couple of hours. Scores all sub-par...

Went to play Welcome to Rainbow, the machine had Mute's chart on which I didn't realise was different to the one I'm used to. Longer ending stream which kicked ass as that's the best bit of the song XD Managed a 98.16% on it, and was feeling it a lot more than usual.

Found some crazy chart for Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star in a pack of random files that was on there. Was a 15, had a few footswitches at the beginning before launching into a mega-length run. Gave up with around 60% score as I'd need to play a few weeks before getting back into that.

Favourite pass was on the entire Pokemon Medley. Found it on the machine, had to play it! 27 minutes of classic Pokemon choons! Wasn't as hard as Denjin K Megamix imo, but I couldn't hit all of the 16th runs very well due to being a noob these days.

On that note, I failed Midnight. noob.

And that's all. Thought I'd bump the thread. Oh, I've just moved house, might be able to move my machine in with me in the next couple of months. That'd be nice :)

EDIT: Dragon - Nice job on your recent videos! I keep seeing your posts on my phone but can't watch the videos XD Just got my laptop back so now I can catch up! With the things your passing now, I'm looking forward to seeing some hiiiiiigh scores on 170bpm stuff like R.E.M III :D Where would I get Schoedeingers Cat btw? That chart, and song are awesome XD

Get dat tristar on Welcome to Rainbow! I've got a 99.31% on the version I'm used to. LOVE THAT CHART SO MUCH <3

Good luck with the Tachyon stuff! I found that only Alpha was really any use back in the day, as it at least had some stuff at reasonable streaming speeds, or stuff with short bursts of faster stream. All of the later ones were just full of long 225+ stuff, or reasonable speed stamina charts with 2+ walls of 250+ stream XD Sure that'll be good eventually, but until you've found a decent amount of 195-215 stuff to practice on.

Not sure if it will help or if you will care, but here are some songs you might want to try as kind of 'milestones' for your play. I vividly remember thinking of each of these as a kind of iconic pass towards my footspeed/stamina improvement, roughly in this order.

Chromatic Blitz (ITG Rebirth)
Large Scale Aggressor (SSSC Pack)
Level 1-1 (SSSC Pack)
Midnight
Any 200bpm Dragonforce song
This Calling
One More Lovely
Vertex Beta

And for general footspeed improvement, I really recommend trying DeltaMax (the 15 in Tachyon Alpha), and Footsecks (the easier chart, think it's a 15, from Tachyon Beta). Both of those might well be unpassable for a long time, but the former one is a good guide on how your footspeed is progressing (and good for helping it improve), and the latter is good as it's very fast, but has easy patterns. If you try DeltaMax, I'll give you a tip now. For as long as you can, save your energy by only using your heels for as long as possible as when you start using your full foot it really saps energy fast. This video has an example of what I mean :)

ridiculously huge score post of destruction

Holy crap that's a lot of scores. It's nice to see a new person post on this board btw, it's really just been me and dragon for a while (and I guess both of us stopped posting :().

I only know some of those songs, but for the ones I do you have some extreme accuracy. 3 greats on summer in belize is amazing, especially because of that weird rhythm jump part (that always knocks me down quite a few greats), and you have good accuracy (and stamina) on delirium too.

I'd imagine hot stuff is a ridiculous amount of 180 bpm 16th stream so great job on passing that and getting what's probably a very good score as well. Also Kaleidoscope is on ITG? Is that the one from pop n' music, cause I love that song.

Anyways I'll post a couple scores I got recently on a ddr x3 machine I found, and a couple itg ones too I think.

I can do better but whatever, it's hard to PA ddr sometimes

Ow. I have no idea what I missed either >.<

Yay for ITG's easier timing. I got one on bloodrush heavy too but I didn't get a chance to take a picture cause the guy playing with me hit the button too fast >.<.

This song is....the best......ever. Seriously some of these new charts are amazing, anti matter challenge, 888, mei challenge, roppongi evolved d (and maybe all of the roppongi versions), loving a great deal of these charts.

awful score but yaaaayyyy pass.

Why don't you use an usb drive to take screens? Unfortunately, i can't tell much cause i don't know these songs and i hate dance dance revolution with a passion - thankfully nearly every machine has been converted to ITG2 here in italy.

Anyway, got these two earlier today so i'm gonna add them to the spamfest.

Kibblre - That's no reason not to post! If you play, you can use it as a way of measuring progress, and getting tips from other people :)

Mollocephalus - Oh you italians. Italy is home to the best european stamina and speed players! I wish we had as many ITG2 machines as you, and we here in the UK would have kept up :p

Also, how is your Above the Winter Moonlight score almost as good as your Delirium score? XD

Mollocephalus 10-29-2012 12:40 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Well, i think i was in a good shape when i did that Above the winter moonlight, while Delirium is particularly irksome to me cause it has turns and i'm still not very good at that... only played ITG seriously for ~1 year now :)

I've been attempting skor's dokudenpa a lot too, still failing at half of the last stream Q_Q

Kibblre 10-29-2012 02:31 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Fine, I'll post.

I really like this song and the chart. I'm hoping for the FC soon.

This was a pretty stamina testing file for me, seeing as I don't have any.

Same with this one, had to push myself to finish. Wish I would've gotten the 90% though.

First 12! (before I got my USB)

Second 12. I think this one was harder than Melting Nails.

Haha dokudenpa, I love that song to death and it's a pass goal for me too, but boy I can't even make it a couple of measures into the start of the long stream lmao. The fact that you make it that far is incredible. Still I thought that delirium was good, what do I know though.

Also @kibblre:

HOLY SHIT TEKNOPATHETIC AND TWIN DRAGONS. WHERE DO I GET THESE CHARTS, WHEEEERRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

You have great accuracy on the 11's btw, and nice job passing 12's. I'm just starting to be able to pass them myself, you might be on the same level as me. What can you get on quasar?

dragonmegaXX 10-29-2012 07:19 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I got 98% on twin dragons on a sightread :o
The chart is annoying though, it's candlestreams the entire time.

Idk, those were on the machine when I first started playing on it. I have poor accuracy on Break Up because it's a pretty long song for me and I just got really lazy near the end, but Tekno is shorter so I can hit more accurately. I haven't played Quasar, it's not on my machine. If you give me a link I can try it out.

EDIT: Teknopathetic's in this pack: http://r21freak.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=20169. I also forgot to say that I recently bought new shoes exclusively for ITG. I played Pheonix before the new shoes and failed it, but I got it the next week when I got the new shoes. I account it to these new ones weighing half of what my old shoes were.

Quasar is by eggman, and it was I guess originally intended to be a keyboard file, so it's in the original keyboard megapack, which you can find on icy's simfile pack thread but I'll also link it here.

http://izzysm.mine.nu/Other%20SongPa...ega%20Pack.rar

It might also be in the second keyboard pack (though I'm pretty sure it's in one) so give that a check too if it's not in there.

Anyways, I went to a new ITG machine today and found a bunch of stuff, including teknopathetic (yay :D) and probably twin dragons too but I didn't end up looking for that. It looks like I was right though about us being close in skill level cause I got this on my second try on it

Which is really really close to yours, only slightly ahead actually. I then decided to whore it for a while to learn the stops and weird patterns and got this...

which I'm really proud of, and I think you can match. try for it next time you play, and get a quasar score too :D.

Anyways, one more notable thing from today

FIRST 13 PASS!!!!!

I know it's really probably a 12, but I don't even care. So happy about this. That last stream was brutal, surprised I came out of it with such a good score.

and lastly, here's a completely random score I took a picture of

Edit: I did not know shoes made such a difference in your playing ability, dang. Guess I should look into that sometime

Shoes are a crucial aspect in playing ITG :) some even play just with their socks on, but if you don't have a dedicab or a ddr with modified flat screws in the arrows corners, you may end up hurting yourself. Besides, if you're not going for long sessions undisturbed, it may be a bit annoying to go around barefoot :p

Let me give you (and everyone else) some suggestions from my own personal experience and from what i've heard around.

Cheap and effective:

Rather expensive, considered to be the best:

Frozen, I can't just take a one of those files and stick it on my drive and it'll work, right? Don't I have to make sure the music is in .ogg format and some other random stuff?

I also think you're better than me. It seems you have more stamina than me. I just passed those 12s and I barely had enough stamina to do so.

Went to flashes for the morning...

Power going out mid-song, and consufing the **** out of me-

Power came back on, 96.92 Gravity blast (12)

Gravity Blast(14) Almost passed, I was really tired.

Stay Crunchy 95.8% Feat. Flash

Level 1-1 good effort. 197bpm, extended streams. I did well till the middle.

Well yeah it seems my stamina might be better than yours (though not that much better), but my accuracy is really close I think. Though I am skillboosting right now cause of how much I'm playing lately, so if you played more you might catch up and pass me real quick.

Anyways I don't know much about porting songs to itg since I've never done it, you may want to ask dragon about that, but I went and looked up how to do it since I wanna try it anyways and so I can link you to it.

So here you go.

http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/Custom...roove_2_Arcade

Also make sure you get the right usb to port it, I've heard ITG doesn't recognize some of them. There was a thread for it a while ago that had some recommendations, hold on let's see if I can find it.

Oh you started it lol, welp anyways check out that thread you started and make sure you get a working usb.

Edit: and you already got one, nevermind >.<

Nice job finally starring gravity blast! gotta be hard to keep FA'ing with such a stamina draining song, too bad about what looked like a pad miss, you could of had a much higher percent. Though I could swear your PA was better on your last run o.o

And also holy crap that gravity blast 14, that looked ridiculous. I'm suprised you didn't just quit out from running out of breath or nearly fainting or something lol, that looked way way way too draining. I bet you can pass that if you warmed up a little too, good luck with it.

If you don't wanna bother with guides, just do this:

• Take a (preferrably empty) USB drive. The smaller it is, the faster it will load. Old 256 - 512 MB are the best. Normal ITGs do not recognize usb drives with a lot of disk space anyway.

• Insert into ITG

• Wait for it to be read - it could take up to 30 seconds, cause first time you connect it it will write the "In The Grove 2" folder in it. If not read, try with another one.

• Go back home after you're done smashing arrows and open your drive. Look for the folder "songs" and there you put a FOLDER containing ONLY .ogg and .sm for each song. Simple as that.

• Unless the cabinet has been hacked or has extra settings enabled it either won't read songs longer than 2.30 mins or cut them off midplay.

• Profit!

Kibblre 10-31-2012 10:01 AM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I know HOW to put songs on ITG, but every song I've taken has been made sure to work with ITG (ie. .ogg files instead of .mp3s). What I was asking if I had to do anything different to get a file from SM and make it work with ITG. I have like 30 songs on my USB drive already that I've played. If you didn't notice, my screenshots signify I have a USB.

Mollocephalus 10-31-2012 10:23 AM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Oh, then i misunderstood you. Either way, if the song is from stepmania you just have to check if it's already .ogg, and if not, you should convert it. Usually, changing extension does not change the gap, but it's something that you should look into after you've converted the MP3.

dragonmegaXX 10-31-2012 10:50 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

It should work fine if it's a stepmania file.

All a file needs to work on ITG is a .ogg and a .sm that matches it.

Kibblre 10-31-2012 11:11 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Do you guys know any good tools to convert the file then? If so, I'll just download Quasar out of that SM pack and convert it and try it out although I don't think I'd have the stamina for Quasar.

Mollocephalus 11-1-2012 04:41 AM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

If you're interested, here is a thread which contains all the official packs we have in our cabinets in italy. Every ITG2 has them, and each of them corresponds to a tournament done in the past. In the first pack you can find quasar, one more lovely, dokudenpa and other old dumps. You can easily convert MP3s into .ogg files online here - there are a ton other sites which do the same, anyway.

It's always amazing to watch him play; his feet move the smallest distance needed to activate the arrow. Brutally efficient

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Got to play some more today. I haven't played in 3 weeks so I thought I'd lose some of the stamina I gained during the semester. Tested it on this (about half way through my ITG session):

It's an improvement over my last score and I'm glad I got the 90%.

Pretty straight forward file, but I like that my accuracy is improving lately:

Finally, this one caught me by surprise. I don't know if anyone else has played this file, but there's two decent 24th drills at 180bpm and I nailed them both except for the 1 great. I guess my accuracy is also improving on faster sections.

Also, if anyone who reads this is good with SM or something, can you make me the expert chart of POSSESSION from DDR X2? Here's a video for reference: http://youtu.be/WgIOIqGzYOY . I really want to play this chart, but the X2 machine closest to me has the worst pads on earth.

So I had a great day of ITG today.

Here's a vid of a sightread I had of a superstreamy 13

But the most impressive ting of the day was that I sightread a super stamina 13 today and got an 82%

Atmosphere is over 9 minutes long with over 3000 notes at 144bpm.

To compare, So deep long mix(a song most people know) is only 6 1/2 minutes with around 2200 notes at 140bpm.

The longest stream in atmosphere is almost 70 measures, which is about 3 times as long as so deeps longest stream.
shit was awesome to play. Felt like running a mile afterwards.

Heres the chart(longest stream is from 8:10 to 10:03

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Whaaaatttt. Wow I don't even get how you do a 10 min song in the first place, but one with a 2 min unbroken 16th stream at the ending, I mean holy crap I don't even have enough stamina for freaking welcome to rainbow how is that possible??. That is a massive stamina jump for you dragon, jeeze. Have you beaten a 15 yet, it seems like you should be able to for sure now.

P.S: How is a 10 min long song a 13, that should be a 14 I would think >.<

Also possession is my absolute favorite x2 chart, great choice. Also if you can kibblre give anti matter challenge a try too, that chart is fantastic.

Anyways here's a couple scores, getting a lot better lately myself

(these are from a while ago because I keep having to reset my phone which deletes all my pictures, still some of these are good though)

I've full combo'd this before, but the PA on this run was absolutely spectacular for me. One day I want sub 10 greats, that would be amazing
(oh and that's a machine record btw, yay me :D)

Yay passed :D. Not sure if I posted a pass on this before or not, so here's one.

Also a couple of scores I don't have the screenshots of anymore cause I lost them for ddr.

980,xxx I'm so happy challenge Full Combo (was so hard to do, there's a couple of bursts in there that are really hard to keep your combo on)

5 greats amalgamation

Anti Matter challenge pass (I don't think I actually took a picture of this at all, cause the score is so bad. Still proud of the pass though)

Now onto ITG!

Wow this was fun

One of the hardest stamina 13's I've done, really proud of the pass. It doesn't hold a candle to my next one though

Wow. 3:30, tons of unbroken 16th streams for 8 measures and one for double that, and the song never lets up either. I honestly have no clue how I passed this, I don't think I've even passed anything with above 1000 steps in it before, or at least definitely not 4600 or whatever this had.

Edit: erm I'm looking around, and for some reason this is rated as a 14 on all the videos I'm watching. I could swear I did the same chart as the one's I'm watching though O.o.

Edit 2 : huh I'm missing 200 steps, I guess this was like an easy chart version of it? it wasn't that much easier if so >.<

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

It's an upper 13 for sure. Also Im still hella far from a 15. The jump from 14 to 15 is unbelievable.

Though I came close to my first stamina 14 pass yesterday on Hold your Colours bipolar voice mix.

I got to about 3:32 in the video and ended up with like a 67%

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

So Im starting to move faster.

I got to 2:05 in this BB evolution chart, which is new and fantastic

Also passed a new 14 3y3s with an 86.xx%...forgot to get a pic ;-; I was so happy. I played this right after BB evo so 191 felt like nothing in comparison

FAVORITE PENDULUM SONG.
The Fountain(15) I just wanted to see how far I could get going 174bpm

Hey, that was my last set, I was tired as hell. I know I can pass it. D:<

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I got my cobalt flux today. A couple of pad misses here and there, but nothing too bad. My chair's also a problem, I use it as my "bar" and there's a decent amount of sliding that goes on.

After this session I was totally spent. At least I can pass 10s like I could back in the day. When I say I only care about passing, I mean that statement haha.

Some of these are from indeed pad pack.

NO FOOTSPEED LOL

NO FOOTSPEED LOL

Botched the ending hard

Crossovers!

I can keep up with the 8th streams in this and that's a good sign. I need to be able to tackle longer streams at decently fast speeds.

The CBs on this are really good for me, I was surprised at being able to do the crossovers and not get misses from stepping too short of the panels. Then again, it's only 135 bpm 16ths, it's manageable.

Like I mentioned earlier, no footspeed... that first 8th run took a huge dip on my life bar. I basically rushed everything else.

If this is an 11, it is definitely one of the lowest 11s ever... I'd argue it's a 10 simply because you can rush a lot of the streams.

FUCK

Oh wait never mind. I consider this my best pass as of yet, this is definitely an 11 at least if Maxx Unlimited is an 11.

Also Legend of Max is fucking impossible bye

holy shit that ma/pa rofl

This is a great file to work on technique (particularly, the ending). Since you're playing on your computer, try playing The Legend of Max's ending on a lower rate, keeping your feet as compact as possible. Increase the speed once you get comfortable. These are some pretty tough candle steps and they will trash you until you get used to them.

if you could point me to some decent 9-12s which aren't gimmicky bullshit like typical itg/r21 9-12s i would totally play those instead

dragonmegaXX 01-15-2013 02:15 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

Heres some of the good stuff I have on my computer. It isnt a lot, because most of what I play now are 13-14's. Also theres only a couple 9's just because I reeeeally dont play 9's.

eh, ddr's 9s are decent enough so i don't really need those, thanks man

DossarLX ODI 01-18-2013 01:02 AM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

So in today's session I had a slight speedboost. My control is still bad and my footspeed is slow but I managed to pass Legend of Max! Bad news is that the support for my chair broke. I need to fix this problem as soon as possible, it cost me the pass on Pussy Pump which would've been my first 11.

Went from 202 greats back in NJ to this now!

Improvement, this isn't that bad to pass now

YESSSS FINALLY. I managed to FC most of the first half this run which helped me approach the ending streams with good enough lifebar.

Not quite, but close. This or Pussy Pump will probably be my first 11s.

TC_Halogen 01-18-2013 05:33 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I'm fairly certain your global offset needs some calibration -- your scores look a lot like how mine did on 13s/14s when playing on the CF (yet I'm capable of getting a star or better on most 14s).

Nice job passing TLoM, finally.

Also, I'm going to re-upload Nous for anyone in this thread, as I patched it with full difficulties. Hard is a borderline 10/11, for anyone interested. Since there's people here actually playing ITG files, I wouldn't mind uploading some of my newer (pre-pack) content, haha.

DossarLX ODI 01-18-2013 11:10 PM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

It's more of an issue of me having to rush stuff because I have low footspeed and stamina.

Also when it comes to trills I have no control haha

Also Im picking up my dedicab I bought this wednesday.

A 16 pass and a double star on Light Emitting Diode do not belong in the same post x_x

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

haha I just saw someone try steel bomber and nearly pass it as his first 16 too, it looks hard to me though. That really really long 16th stream in it looks absolutely brutal, though maybe it's more of a 15 or something I wouldn't know.

Anyways nice scores! :D

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I dont know why but my FA on anything under 190 is just terrible haha. Im actually more comfortable streaming 220s. If you look at the graph of my Steel Bomber ss, my max combo was in the second huge run and not to mention I FFCed the run until I reached max lifebar lol.

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

OceanLab Megamix = 17ish minutes of 138 stream. It's a lot of fun. However it's NOT fun to play after you ate an entire greasy calzone.

The entire song is around 580 measures. I finished around 208 measures. This is NONSTOP mind you.

Mollocephalus 02-8-2013 02:30 AM

Re: ITG/DDR Scores

I had once passed an entire 9 minutes of 140bpm streaming, the song is called "sky falls down" by oceanlab. Just thinking about double that amount... lol

But i'm pretty sure with your dedicab there you can train yourself and soon pass it no problem :P
