Dat MA.

I might be able to improve it.

PR 1! I know this is going to be nowhere near good enough to not get eliminated in d3, but I was pretty proud of it so I figured I would post it.

Oh, I'm really really sorry. I didn't even notice you had to do that, I am being so ridiculously dumb today :(

But I did improve it so I guess it works out.

According to the DP Calculator, your other score was better.

That's weird, I would think 2 goods would be more of a drop in points than 1 great.

Also, I used a DP calculator of my own (though probably not the right one, or a good one >.<) and I got the new one as being better.

Edit: oh, it was a miss not a good. Argh why am I so ridiculously dumb.

Is this tournament elimination or total scoring?

I was hoping it's the latter, but the OP says it's elimination unfortunately

The calculator I have at the moment calculates DP % with perfects worth the same value as marvs. In other words, a AAA with any amount of perfects would result in 100% DP. If we use this scoring system, then it will be analogous to amazings on FFR which are 'better' than perfects but don't actually affect your score as opposed to hitting a perfect instead. If enough people care about MA though, then I will try to find another calculator that weighs marvs higher than perfects.

EDIT: I'll post the DP % calculator I'm using if people are fine with it.

I held a DDR tournament with this 'problem' (Konami REALLY ****ed up their raw scoring when they brought in Marvelous timing!), and propose my solution.

For the most part, ignore MA and just consider them as perfects. If there are any AAA tiebreakers, use the marvellouses as the decider. SORTED.

Use MIGS, problem solved.
http://aaronin.jp/ddrallcalc.html

The problem with your "solution" is that it totally ignores MA vs speed players. Using your solution, paex, unreal, and 0 are all tied and now we have to do a 3-way tiebreaker. Using MIGS, paex is currently holding the best score. His DP is 98.48%, unreal's is 98.26%, 0's is 97.81%. No one is going to look at all three of these scores and say "yep, they all got AAA's so they are equally as good." ps my DP is 98.14% and 0 is better than me, so derp.

Don't try to make this FFR.

This.

Considering this is a Stepmania tourney where there is Marvelous timing, that has to be taken into account too. Otherwise, what if someone gets a 100p AAA while another gets like 20p blackflag? There are a variety of player styles for SM; Some are good MAers while others can PA harder stuff really well. There needs to be a system taking both these into account

Re: Ben's Solord Style Tournament!

Actually choofers, my answer puts the person with the better MA in the lead. Use marvellouses when it comes to a AAA tie, so then better MA wins.

But I'm personally more in favour of just using a DP system which weights in MA. Far more fair. My solution was mainly put in place because it was a national tournament on stage in front of hundreds of people, and rather than have to input scores for DP and make everyone wait for the results, it was easier and just as effective to do it that way as the results were almost identical.

But this isn't that. Use DP which include marvellouses :3
