Atheism illegal in Indonesia
http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/n...ested-facebook
The government over there is so backwards on this issue. My mother was born in Indonesia - even though she's an atheist, she has to claim that she has a religion whenever she goes over there to see her cousins. |
Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
pretty ****ed

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
That is the dumbest thing ever. It should be a right to not believe in religion. Religion is ****ed up anyways
|
Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
Atheism is "banned" if you're residing in Indonesia.
If you're an atheist and you want to visit, they won't deny you entry to the country. |
Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
If I believe that God doesn't exist as much as you believe that he does, doesn't that make me religious?

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
That is a huge load of shit. But then again, when you have blind zealots in the seat of power, what more can you expect? I feel sorry for this Alexander fellow.

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
Wow... 5 years in prison for a Facebook comment? Do religious people think this is justice and will have them saved? Absurd.
|
Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
Would you be safe if you declare yourself agnostic? It's pretty difficult to be purely atheist anyways (if that is possible).

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
This is so old fashioned. Why are we still trying to curve people in the wrong direction?

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
This thread's gonna blow up into a religious debate in about 2 pages, so I'll just call it now.

edit: @spenner- I already contributed to this thread by explaining who this law applies to. Goddamb, I just came back from a month in Indonesia, and nowhere on the arrival card did it ask me my religion, which means you'll only get arrested if you do stupid shit like making a Facebook group thingy. As usual, this problem can be averted by not being a shitdick. ;) |
Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
What a constructive post.
The main thing is that people's freedom is being restricted. People should be able to practice the beliefs they have. If you have to have a religion forced on you, it's not a belief of yours, it's just something you're participating in, like dropping oil into water. If you have belief in something, you shouldn't be restricted from pursuing it by law. That's silly and pointless. You can't control what's really in the back of someone's mind on this issue, what they say they believe could be completely different, so it's kind of pointless to enforce. |

Here it comes.

Re: Atheism illegal in Indonesia
Getting arrested for being Atheist is like getting arrested for hating broccoli. .-.
