Keep practicing, but avoid the hard lines whenever possible. Think about everything around you-- do they have outlines? ;)

Whenever you can, start experimenting with tones of light and dark. Ignore outlines-- don't worry about the shape necessarily, try just matching the levels of dark and light with a subject.

The thing about lines is ^^^ that's not a real thing, and I had no idea what I was gonna draw before I drew it.

Spenner do you shop out the smudges on the paper or are your drawings really that clean? o__O

I always erase them as I go, put paper over to protect them from my hands etc :P they're pretty clean. The only ones with smudges are the ones other people have smudged ;~; also, for those two drawings I used the cap of a highlighter with some of the plastic gone soft to smudge with-- it does the job plus it doesn't cast it out everywhere.

Also, same thing here Mid-- the same rules apply even to objects not in the real world ;)

You WILL get to it, you mean, 8-)

Spenner: Holy crap, those are awesome. What drove you to draw like that?

Spitfire: Your characters have a lot of personality to them regardless of any name or background =O

Renevatia: Be my sensei...? ;_; my characters have no life.

I drew this on an aeroplane the other day. :)

Not perfect, but it's been awhile since I've sketched something life-like.
