Re: Show your sketching!

first serious *finished* drawing ive done in god knows how long.

reference picture is a gaia avatar  so aside from the hat everything is pretty much off the top of the dome. shading is wonky because im bad at deciding lighting point w/E

i tried drawing hair the way you're suppose to instead of just doing it how i normally do and i fucking love the way it came out omg. anyway im really happy the way this came out

if you have the head turned at an angle you have to make sure the facial features are in correspondence with that angle

Re: Show your sketching!

shh i know i didnt notice until -after- i finished

i dont actually take breaks when i draw so anything thats wrong i dont find out until its too late to fix without any noticeable after marks. its a habit i need to break

also dope minecraft head!!

Re: Show your sketching!

@ Quigly, the proportions look really flat. Especially near the chin, it looks like it's a flat mask instead of an actual chin shape.

@ Carlos, to a lesser extent same deal. The shading doesn't really define the shapes of the face making the face and the hat look flat.
e: also yeah what quigly said, the nose etc should be in the direction the face is in, unless she's been boxing or something :')

Here's a sketch I did while riding the bus. I have no idea where this inspiration came from...

Starting to learn ..

Re: Show your sketching!

This is accurate for the most part. The only things that are off are location of the hands and nipples:

The wrists falls on the same line as the crotch area and the nipples falls lower where the line for the biceps are (it's about one fist lower from the armpit).

Re: Show your sketching!

Something about the knees looks off as well but I can't tell if it's actually the knees that are too low down, or that the crotch area is too high up. You should also work on more confident linework.

Re: Show your sketching!

the thighs are waaaaay too long. which is what is making the knees look off.

nice attempt though keep at it

also fuc da haters, self esteem issue lines all the way

Mahjix your shit is awesome. Really solid, and groovy style. My nitpick is that the background is rather distracting, and that a sense of depth isn't very strongly portrayed with the coins (same colour palette with each coin despite the differences in perspective (at least, similar enough to not look very widespread)).

Also, the splattery outlines are neat but something a bit more organic and energy-looking would convey the concept a bit stronger.

Keep up the good work though, everything else is great.

Spenner, you are absolutely %200 correct! I was very disappointed with how the background panned out. When I submitted this in my deviantART I thought to myself, "I don't like the green splatters... I should make it smokey instead." And YES! I do think the coins should convey some sort of depth. V2 is now in the works. Thank you sir! :)

Also, LOL m0de! I was about to say, "ALREADY!?" Hahaha Thanks!
