In

Sent the creds already. D1 looks good to me right now, but if I have some random skill jump I send another thousand to you. Unless you think I need to not be in D1.

Guys, if you read the OP, it tells you exactly how he wants you to sign up.

Credit donations for the monthly tournament of June are now open. All donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated! Check the OP under "Monthly Tournaments" for more information.

Also, it would be a good idea to spread the word about the upcoming tournaments. Im sure some people stopped checking this subforum so often from the lack of new tournaments.
Invite your friends to compete!

Ooh, a sort of tournament league. Definitely in. D1 (unless having a Pondering Stuff AAA forces me to be in D2)

In, mainly to see where I will be placed. Its always fun to watch this process.

Kmay, i think D5 would be good for you, but if your feeling ambitious like i was, D6 shouldnt be too much for you to handle :). PM me your signup with your division choice and song.

Since the divisions have different buy-ins, i would like people to pick their own division as much as possible after some reccomendations from myself or others. I dont want to force people to pay more credits for a placement their not sure they can handle okay.

Edit: And Guest15937, i think D1 is fine for now. If you end up crushing people you will need to move up to D2 next time. PM me your full sign up sometime as well.

I'm in. I'm not sure if I should be in D2 or D3.

MopeyJoe, D3 looks about right for you.

The prize/buy-in structure of this tournament is actually somewhat confusing to me. It almost seems like people will be losing credits by picking higher level songs repeatedly.

Can someone clarify this for me, because I'm thinking about entering the tournament.

Each division has a difficulty cap. Players choosing songs cannot choose a song higher than that difficulty. The entry fees are for gambling. People enter each week and the credits are pooled and given in a properly distributed prize type tournament.

I don't know what OP is going to do about recurring songs being chosen but he probably has something planned.

There is a point where players will start to lose credits. Right around 3rd place or so (if the division is full) you will break even. Lower than that and you lose credits.
I do see a problem with these because many players don't want to lose credits so they'll simply pick one division lower, making others pick one division lower and so-forth. It's a vicious cycle in it's own way, and there is no real way around it unless there's no buy-in.
But I also see why there's a buy-in, as this tournament is weekly held and continuous (meaning, there may be no end unless people stop signing up). It would be near impossible for the host to hand out prizes constantly every week in this scenario.

I didn't notice before the the prizes were linearly distributed.

Alright, I'm going to jump into this tournament: in for D7.

Re: SocoNhydro's Tournament of Eternity. (ongoing)

There is really no way i can think of to avoid people jumping in lower divisions, except for the fact that ill be restricting what divisions people can join based on their past preformance in here. That should at least weed out people joining a division and crushing it every time for the credits. And as for the increase in credits as the division gets higher, i figured more skilled players have more credits to play with. Wouldn't be very interesting to wager 1,000 credits in D7 ;D. Yes, it is possible to lose credits in the weekly, but its meant for people who are okay with a possible loss in order to compete and have fun. The only other way i see to have a consistently running weekly tournament is to eliminate prizes altogether and just play for fun. The monthly tournaments i will try to keep ran on donation credits as much as possible, so people who dont want to wager credits can participate as well.

What's the point of buy-ins if no one loses credits?

pmonibuv1 05-8-2011 01:34 PM

Re: SocoNhydro's Tournament of Eternity. (ongoing)

The buy-ins are for the weekly tournaments. Players compete each week and winner gets credits, 2nd place gets credits, 3rd place gets credits, etc.

Also, sent 30k for the monthly.

The song difficulty listed under each division is a maximum, so the songs will be 9 and under, but most likely all 9's. Please read the entire post before you enter! And dont forget the signup pms! I know the OP is long but it contains vital information throughout and its important to completely understand how the tournaments are ran.

Can't you check people's public level ranks without being a veteran now?

You should definitely be confirming people's skill wherever possible.

Unfortunatly i cant, but if an admin would give me that privaledge without making me a vet it would be extremely helpful in determining peoples skills. As of now ive been looking at ranks, stat bars, replays, top ranked files, etc. But it would be much more accurate if i could check the levelranks directly.
