So where's all the people with the ideas?? You can see how I can take an idea/mspaint drawing and turn it into a potentially winning entry. So brainstorm! What other time is an mspaint drawing going to win you two grand or more xD

Has anyone else started on an entry yet? Spenner? Mythix?

I submitted LMFAO.

Lmao wow.

And I doubt I'll have enough time to really commit to anything worthwhile, I may whip something up after the storm of long hours at work pass |:

Ok so I thought I could just fudge it and photoshop the card and screen into her hands, but it doesn't look quite right, so I'm going to go ahead and camera match the 3d card to the exact angle and position of the card she used to be holding, as well as render it out with a better lock screen.

Sooooooo close to finished though.

the card in her hand lol

That's what I said. So yeah need an exact render with the screen as a texture, photoshop just doesn't cut it here. Thoughts otherwise?

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

I was thinking.... some sort of radio-wave scanner that can scan and create an inner 3-d map of a car that a cop has pulled over to already see: if there is visable bottles in the car, weapons, and or drugs.

I could try to make a picture of it D:? I was just thinking of a cop car looking on a screen of a 3-d image of the car infront looks like (showing the car in front of course).

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

the john smith on the black standing card has a blue glow to it which doesnt seem right and the john smith(would make more sense as jane smith) on the pink card looks like it has a grey overlay and the text doesnt look like its on the card but hovering in front of it. i also dont think the holographic bird thing is as reflective as you have it on the pink card. something like a goldish background to the bird would make more sense

in its entirety though it looks slick and i want a polycard

I just got to look at your render and I have to say it is really amazing. And the design is infinitely better than what I had in my head. Congrats.

PS: The OCD in me says that the photo with the girl is one pixel too large at the bottom.

The stroked border is one pixel too small! Gahhh! I have OCD about that too >_> thanks

ps got any other ideas?

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

I got more time to analyze it today and I am wondering about a couple of things.

1- What is the LED for? You can easily see that the power is on if there is something on the screen.

2- What is the difference between the "Scan thumb to unlock" and "Card locked" screens? Both act as a locked polycard. Seems superfluous to have 2 screens for that.

3- There should be a way to go into card options to add more cards, edit details, ...

4- What's on the back of the polycard?

5- Why is the screen transparent? You can't really use from the other side anyway, as the text would be flipped over. It also makes readability a problem in some environments. Durability is probably lower too.

6- There should be a way to lock the polycard on a specific card for the time of a transaction. If somebody else has to handle the polycard, they can see all your financial information with a simple press of the back button.

7- Why is there a dented pattern at the top and bottom of two screens but not in the other two? I think such a design should either be everywhere or scrapped altogether.

8- I agree with who_cares that a golden background to the bird logo would look much better.

That's all I can think of.

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

I have no critiques of the card that haven't already been voiced, but there was one other thing that caught my attention, and just barely so. The fact that it barely caught my attention is one of the issues I have with it.

The Polycard
Powered By
nVIDIA

The text at the top center of the image. Needs work. Make it look as pretty as everything else in the photo. It's just far too bland, and almost seems out of place if you actually notice it and take any time to look at it (like I said, I almost didn't).

My guess would be that it allows for natural lighting illuminating through the card for better screen visibility

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

Not very important, but DS, I think it should just be "PolyCard powered by nvidia" not "the pollycard"

Battery charge indicator.

Open to suggestions, but I wanted to emphasize the security a card like this would have.

Obviously there is, considering everything displayed on the white card screen, but I don't feel as though I would need to show something like that, as it's already an implied capability.

I honestly don't think it really needs anything on the back, the only thing I can think of to put back there would be customer service information. The scene is pretty busy as-is, I don't think I'll be showing the back.

If you look into technological manufacturing trends and predictions, transparent screen technology will actually become the cheapest type of display to produce once factories begin to catch up...and for something that would be produced on such a massive scale such as a credit card, cheaper is definitely better.

This is completely irrelevant, it's not a real card. nVidia and Visa can deal with those specifications if they ever decide to manufacture this xD

I purposely left it out on some screens to show that it's NOT simply part of the screen, and is just a displayed graphic.

You have no idea how hard it is to make anything look holographic in 3d =(
It's pretty much not possible. So no matter what background I put on it, it's still not going to look like a hologram.

@midnight cause I'm becoming lazy and don't feel like quoting anymore: "The Polycard" shows this as something being introduced, and has a nice ring to it.

@wc: The blue glow on the John Smith of the black card is being reflected off of the blue screens on the ground, there isn't anything else in the scene that's blue, so this is physically correct. All of the cards are carbon copies of eachother, the only differences are in the screen texture and the card colors, nothing else is changed =/

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

yellow outline around the bird? Is that supposed to make it look like a sticker?

midnghtraver 05-25-2011 05:40 PM

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

Oh, and is the tan card's reflection supposed to be black?

darkshark 05-25-2011 06:36 PM

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

Is having the bird look like a sticker a bad thing?

The reflection is a tad bit dark, at least on the right side in the shadows, even though it's probably just because of the color of the floor, but I'll see if I can lighten it up a bit.

rushyrulz 05-25-2011 07:05 PM

Re: ($10,000 prize) nVidia NVArt 06: Moving Innovation

I don't know, is it?

One other thing I see, the cards laying down look significantly more thick than the ones standing up.
