How many people play FFR for fun?

The reason I ask is because I just noticed tonight that I really don't play FFR for fun anymore. I usually am just trying to improve my scores. It's all competitive now. I don't usually replay files that I have AAA'd, except for tournaments and such. Don't get me wrong, I love competition, but I have stopped playing just to, well, play.
I just started replaying some songs now, and some are pretty damn fun. I forgot about these. Mostly the VCs in D2 that have been around for a long while (Lovely x3, Carrousel, Epic, Splash Beats is now in Misc lol, Turbulence, Legend, etc) I missed those. Whoring Sympathizer to get Oni, I forgot I liked that one too.

I forgot that FFR was fun. I was more addicted to the competition, but now it's time for a break from thinking about scores, and just playing files that I enjoy. Fun is good.

I play for fun.
If I was going to play competitively I would switch to spread.

I do, occasionally play it with average misses also.

If I'm playing sp, it's mostly to FC or AAA a song. Those are the times I get frustrated and wonder why I'm even playing.

However, I truly have fun with this game is when I'm playing mp. I'm not obsessed about winning or losing. I can just enjoy the song and the file for what it is. It's even better if you get paired with someone close to your skill level. I like that feeling of friendly competition. It forces me to try harder and feel super excited if it was a close game. It gets the heart beating. :]

I just really like the people aspect of this game. I didn't progress hardly at all until I whored mp.

Although, even in sp, probably because I've become such a nerd at this game, I still get excited over the key taps, or perfect sync, or the feeling that it's as if I'm actually playing the piano. <3

I don't play competitively anymore...I usually play just for fun. This is especially true since I can't apparently play with accuracy anymore for some mysterious reason. I like to set standards for myself, but I don't try and go beyond that anymore.

FFR isn't fun when there is a person named MrRubix who has AAA'd just about every single song

i used to play FFR in hopes of becoming that special person with 3 goods on a crazy hard what the hell FGO song that nobody could AAA let alone SDG

Re: How many people play FFR for fun?

Why would you compare yourself against a person like MrRubix, who's pretty much an outlier in regards to playing abilities? Play for yourself or against others at your own skill level. MrRubix shouldn't be a part of your equation at all. You can still be "special" in your own ways.

regardless he appears on the ranks as #1 right durp
and everybody knows he's AAA'd everything
you can't magically erase him from the ranks lol

I find trying as hard as I can on every song fun. I try to beat myself every time I play, I find that more fun than relaxed playing. If you are playing just to try to beat the best, well then your not going to have any fun because your just not going to beat Rubix at least it seems.

I don't know if you remember (I seriously doubt you do) but I played you in MP in my first week of being on FFR. We played Hardcore of the North, and I was like wtf how can someone play this song. Lol memories. I could definitely use some MP, I never really played a lot of MP, but I think now I will play it more (when it's back and good and stuff)

Yea, of course, but for me right now, there isn't much for me to AAA (other than easy stuff I'm too lazy to play). I try to improve my scores, but I feel as if I'm stuck. I need a break from all that and just play to play for now. I think. =/

This is how I play FFR. Competitively trying to beat others ruins the fun for me because all you are ever focused on is hitting an arrow perfectly rather than playing a file for fun and enjoying the music. It's part of the reason why I retired from competitive play (The other half was due to stress in college, which was attributed by the amount of time spent playing FFR competitively). Fixing your stats is what makes FFR fun for me, but once I max out on that, I'll probably play fun files until I improve or something.

Once MP comes back I can see myself chatting in the room and not playing a single game

Re: How many people play FFR for fun?

Ever since I started playing FFR seriously for ranks, the fun scale has died and just became more frustrating. Now I have reached my limit on things I can improve in my ranks, so now all the songs are overplayed and boring, in result I went back to stepmania. lul.

also, the files that are most fun to me are usually rated 9 or 10 so whenever I feel like derping around, I just play a ****ton of those
