CT News Exchange

In this thread my goal is to share with other voracious news readers the feeds that I use to inform myself in hopes that others will share the feeds they use to inform themselves and thus help me increase the quality of news I collect. Anyone who has a feed that they think is hella awesome that hasn't already been listed please post it. The whole point of this thread is pretty biased in favor of me, in that I am just looking to diversify my daily news intake, but I figure that others can benefit quite easily from this if they wanted.

If the terms "feed" or "newsreader" are foreign to you, check out wikipedia's page on RSS Feeds. Many news sources have an RSS/Atom feed even if you don't necessarily use them with this feature.

Point being, that you don't necessarily have to post a "feed." If you have any news site, online news magazine, or news blog that you think is good and will add diversity of viewpoints and information to the list below, please post it.

My interests are primarily economic and law news sources and hence the need for better diversity. Here is what I read pretty often.

The Economist Feeds

http://www.economist.com/rss/the_americas_rss.xml
http://www.economist.com/rss/middle_...africa_rss.xml
http://www.economist.com/rss/asia_rss.xml
http://feeds.feedburner.com/economis...racyinamerica/
http://www.economist.com/rss/economics_rss.xml

I read the Economist as my primary overall news source because it seems to has the least bias and best style while covering a wide range of topics on a fairly relevant and fast timeframe. I'm always willing to diversify my news with more sources, so if you have a feed that gives news on a particular one of these topics that is really good I'd be appreciative of the suggestion.

NYT: Paul Krugman and David Brooks
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/rss2.xml
http://topics.nytimes.com/top/opinio...=nyt-per&rss=1

The idea here is to get two views of economics from the mainstream American media which are on opposite sides of the spectrum. I barely trust the NYT as a whole personally, but I do trust particular blogs and columnists.

Pure Economics Blogs
http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
http://www.marginalrevolution.com/ma...tion/index.rdf

Greg Mankiw is a former chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors and has a blog which gives nice and short tidbits about various topics and can aggregate some great links on topics that you wouldn't be able to find otherwise.

Marginal Revolution is pretty much your end-all-be-all Economics and Libertarianism blog that is accessible and well-rounded.

Overcoming Bias
http://www.overcomingbias.com/atom.xml

Overcoming bias is a site with the expressed intent of helping people overcome their bias through a variety of social sciences. Pretty much the highest quality blog I've ever seen. Incredibly relevant to what we discuss here. This site will make you a smarter person if you read it daily.

Society through the Lens of the Law Professoriate
http://www.volokh.com/content_rss.xml

The Volokh Conspiracy is a law blog that has a large group of law professors who comment on what's going on in America as well as big cases on a daily basis.

Foreign Policy
http://www.foreignpolicy.com/issue/foreignpolicy.php

Foreign Policy magazine is a progressive magazine with it's focus entirely on foreign policy and forward-thinking solutions to problems that have seemed unresolvable. A lot of incredibly smart people submit to this magazine from a variety of countries and walks of life. The downside of this feed is that it doesn't update a whole lot, so you get a couple items a day, and the other downside is that the website doesn't give you full content without being a subscriber. The magazine print edition is amazing but the website falls a little short. Still good. Also good is their MUST READS del.icio.us link aggregation, actually probably better.

General Libertarianism
http://feeds.feedburner.com/reason/AllArticles

Reason Magazine is a libertarian magazine which often times seems more like it's focus is contarianism rather than libertarianism. So if you like a magazine where the tenants of ideology are light skepticism, heavy cynicism, and being contrary to as much as possible, this is a good magazine for helping you accomplish those goals.
