Fastest Scroll Speed
 

Hey, who is the player with the Fastest Main Scroll Speed.(*Scroll speed that you are confortable with)

I know that fast scroll speed doesn't mean that you are better, but i can't read cloud of arrow so i need to perfectly see each note to avoid reading Dyslexia. My main scroll speed is 4.5 and i was wondering if i was the fastest n_n

4.5 main? jfc, I AAA'd Yoshi's Cookie at 4.5 but that was more muscle memory and only slight readability.

My main is 3.2, and fastest I can actually read and play well is probably 3.5 -3.6

I don't know if you're using the fastest scroll speed

But I know this song is the fastest for making someone go deaf if they forget to turn the volume down.

4.5 is pretty crazy. Probably the fastest, or close to it.
I think alot of players play around 2.75(excluding the etterna players who play at 3+) , i used to play 2.65 but ive switched to 1 and its way more fun.

Holly Hell, i saw a replay of your settings and this is pure madness n_n your scroll speed is so slow that you cut in half your screen to be able to focus on the right part XD.

All song : 60 Decibel
Vertex Beta : 120 Decibel

I'm not able to read difficulty over 50 at 3.2 XD. I will probably need to go up to 5.0-5.5 to play Difficulty 85-95 songs

This is how FFR used to be for everyone. Before there was scroll speed options, it was 1x speed for everyone, and we would cut off the bottom half or 75% in order to get the simulation of a faster scroll speed.

Arcnmx played some with scroll speed 12.0.

Just recently, Velo experimented with extra large vertical display and posted a video. I was able to follow the notes and air-play them too and the scroll speed was something between 10.0 and 20.0 (cant remember).

That being said, idk what highest "main" speed is.

My knowledge of customization in FFR is slim but I read at around 2.65-2.7x. The reading area seems so small though and I'd like to elongate it if possible. Some points though:

1) Being able to read at a faster scroll speed is better for playing faster stuff since your brain isn't forced to read large chunks of notes at one time. Having said that, there were really skilled players who could do incredible things with low speed mods (Dossar and Linus come to mind). Xmod players are an oddball thing in that they are going more from memorization and not actually "reading" what they are playing most times, but if there's anyone out there claiming to read the fastest, my money would be on xmod players.

2) Choosing the DISTANT mod allows you to use faster scroll speeds with the same effective speed, I think, because the distant mod compresses the reading field in the Y direction meaning that if "speed 1" moves a note 4 pixels up over a certain time interval, on 75% DISTANT "speed 1" moves the note 3 pixels up over the same time interval. That's just a theory idek if that's the case.

3) Choosing the MINI mod has similar effects to DISTANT only now you are compressing both the X and Y reading fields by around 50% and pretty much doubling their length. I can recall being able to read C1600 or so using this mod but it's been so long.

4) Having a longer reading field can have added benefits and allow you to read faster speeds.

5) I have a theory that downscroll is actually superior to upscroll because the arrows would feel like they were coming towards your fingers as opposed to away from them, giving a psychological edge of sorts. I could just be talking out of my ass, that's 99% of what I do and my colon hates me for it.

Holly Hell 0_0, Velocity is a Scroll Speed God n_n
I have try it out(Without Mini and Distant Mod) and at around 6.5 - 7 i'm having a lot of miss XD.

For the moment i might still be one of the highest Scoll Speed Main but Velocity, xXOpkillerXx and others seems to be able to read at crazzzy scroll speed. (I might practice this and try to create a record n_n.)

Tasselfoot, Thanks for this information. I can't imagine the pain of having a scroll speed of 1 and cutting 75% of the screen. (I played at DDRevolution 1 and the Scroll Speed was also 1 and this was painfull to read)

Here is screencut at its finest back in '06. This now-horrible Pants score was actually rank 3 but the chart had only been in-game for a few days at the time.
