Beating the System

My school uses a company called Virtucom who manages (and creates) all our computer problems around the school. Of course, all the things that bring joy to children are blocked.

"Why not use a proxy server?" They're blocked.
"So find one that isn't blocked." After about the first 5 tries to access a proxy, your student username is blocked from internet use for the rest of the day.
"Use command prompt and..." It's blocked.
"What all's blocked?" UltraSurf, Control Panel, Command Prompt, Properties, Emulators (for snes, n64, etc.), enough that I'm out of ideas. Even when a flash drive is used.

I need a program (that isn't UltraSurf). A GOOD program that can make me happy once again.
Please Help Me.

You don't need to look at porn at school, sorry.

Command Prompt is blocked in all school servers buddy. You can complete screw over a system with it.

There's a way to make your own, but I'm not going there. Using it to tamper with your school server can become a police matter.

My school doesnt have command prompt blocked, Yet I mess around with everything in the schools server. Its nice to know admin accounts on there. ;)

How about you use school time to do school work?

Is it really that hard to understand? The school doesn't want you goofing off in class.

If run still works, try hitting regedit.
You can simply disable a proxy in web browsing, and directly access the internet.

But yeah, what Squeek said.

Re: Beating the System

Well, I'll do my work, say finish typing up a paper for class, but our teachers usually, whenever we go to the computer lab, or get laptops, we have the whole period to do it, but I'm a really fast typer, so I finish really quickly. Usually, I just mess around on AlbinoBlackSheep, or talk to friends on E-Buddy. I've never had any reason to screw around with making an admin account, mainly because I don't want to get suspended/expelled, seeing as I've never been suspended OR expelled. The worst punishment I've ever gotten at school, was a Saturday school, because I was tardy three times to class, and here you are talking about hacking into a county school program, it's ignorant, and frankly, if you do it and get caught, that would make my day.

RegEdit's blocked, but Command Prompt isn't. Too bad I'm not l33t enough to know how to go crazy with it.

At Squeek and Zageron:

Usually us good kids with crazy fast fingers can type fast and are smart enough to finish our work early in class. This usually happens whenever we go to the computer lab, which leaves me with usually half an hour to 45 minutes left to do whatever. With mostly everything blocked, you can only go onto stupid kiddie sites like funbrain, because all other sites that are relatively fun for teenagers are blocked.

Search "p rox y" or "prox y," etc. instead of "proxy."

Amen. I knew someone would get on my ass about "not doing my work."

And I can't type fast?

School is for education. Go to Wikipedia.

Hell dude. In my Senior year computer lab classes, I finished the entire year's worth of work in the first three weeks. You know what I did? I did more work. I learned more than the class was trying to teach. When you're not constrained by the requirements of the lab, the software you get to play around with is much more fun.

I believe in my Sophomore year of high school I had to code a game in Visual Basic. I finished the requirements in a day. I spent the next two months making it better. Same for my Junior year when I messed around with HTML after the requirements were completed. Same for my Senior year with Flash. And thanks to that messing around, I can actually code in Flash. If I just followed the requirements and gave up, I wouldn't have actually learned anything. I wouldn't be able to code in any of those languages.

And it's not like I enjoyed school. I hated school, just like I hate college. It's a massive waste of time. But if you're there to learn, you might as well learn. If you're so smart that you learned what the class is trying to teach, teach yourself.

I'd have to agree with this completely. I would rather finish the whole year in a few weeks, and then learn 7 times as much as I should have learned.

i always finished my AutoCAD work during the first 30 minutes of class which left me 30 minutes to mess around with the program

i learned alot of things the teacher didnt even know.

school=learning

I finished my Geometry final in 30 minutes (500 words with pictures and graphs, got an A.) Classes are 44 minutes long. We had 5 days. I tried FFR. It was blocked. I tried all the FFR proxies. Blocked (******s...) I went into Geometer's Sketchpad. I spent a cumulative 3 hours and 56 minutes making the hugest and most elaborite spirograph I had ever seen. I showed my teacher and I got 30 points of extra credit (the final was worth 100.) I guarantee you I was the first person ever to get 130% on that final. Definitely the first person to get an extra 30% for screwing off.

The moral of the story is: Look both ways before you cross the street.

P.S. If you want to see the spirograph, I could either resurrect the 2 year old geosketch file from the dead, or I could spend another 4 hours making a new one. Or you could just live without.

Squeek is the patron spirit of learning stuff, but it's so ironic watching him rant about how school is there for you to learn when he's "too cool for school".

If they're stupid enough to have the computer run the cd drive/floppy drive before the hard disk drive, you could always use a boot disk. Then delete all of the school records, get arrested, go to jail, live out your life giving blow jobs to convicts, etc.

I just used the command prompt but then after they figured out that someone in the school knew how to get to blocked sites for doing that... they block ALMOST everything... (I absolutely LOVE www.studenteducation.net! Thx Synth, Tass, etc.) I used to get to YouTube that way but now... it kind of sucks and we don't even have any good programs to play with...
