How will FFR react to Flash discontinuation?

As you may know, Adobe decided that on 2020 flash would stop receiving updates. And it will stop getting supported by various browsers. As far as i know many players play FFR online.

Will FFR get rid of the Web Support and Keep R3 Air only?

Will they add desktop support for their other versions?

Flash is huge and too important to die. It's true that as people are using phones more now than PCs, Flash's popularity has fallen, but I don't think Flash will be leaving.
Adobe may have given up, but people have the source code already. There will be workarounds.
Adobe will probably make flash open source (or whatever i dunno), but then again, we saw what happened with the coronavirus situation. Maybe they will mess everything up. Doubt it though.

What browsers are dropping Flash support? I wouldn't imagine Microsoft or Firefox to do something like that. Google maybe. I think this has to do with the majority of people using phones instead of personal computers. And since phones have never been used to play FFR, I personally don't see a reason why this website would change anything. Anyway, looking forward to others' response.

Adobe:
https://theblog.adobe.com/adobe-flash-update/
"Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash. Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats."

Chrome:
https://www.blog.google/products/chr...-flash-chrome/
"We will remove Flash completely from Chrome toward the end of 2020."

Firefox:
https://blog.mozilla.org/futurerelea...lash-end-life/
"In December 2020, Flash support will be completely removed from consumer versions of Firefox. Adobe will stop shipping security updates for Flash at the end of 2020."

Microsoft Windows, IE, Edge:
https://blogs.windows.com/msedgedev/...dows-timeline/
"We will phase out Flash from Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, culminating in the removal of Flash from Windows entirely by the end of 2020. "

To sum it up, basically everyone using it will be dropping support for it and actively removing it near the end of 2020. This phasing out has been in the works since 2017 and is a large part of why the Air builds of the rCubed engine were created in the first place. Come the end of the year, it will no longer to be possible to run the Flash builds of the game within browsers, and will more difficult to acquire the standalone builds of flash players for the game as well.

I still have a FP17 Projector, wish I had FP8 - 16 still, ditched them all when FP17 worked better than the rest of them.

That's why people created this project:
https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/

I was asked at some point as well if FFR would like to included in it, but we don't have any legal right to offer any of the music used in FFR to a separate project, and we don't have any plans of just discontinuing FFR any time soon anyway.

As a new player, I currently stick to the browser. The desktop client appears to be Windows-only.

You should use the desktop version, It's legitimately the same thing without the lag.

Despite having the piece of text where F2 -> replay is possible, I don't have a good feeling as to how this will turn out. Its because there may be outside factor coming into play that we might not be able to predict

I don't even have flash installed. I still think its a short sighted move to discontinue it though.

I still seem to have a frame lag even with the R^3 Engine. Am I missing something important?

well, yeah, it's in the title. It happened in January and you're on a mac. If you know someone who's good at programming on a mac, let one of the game developers know.

There are ways around it, being on a mac and all, takes some google searching though.
